About the Best Charleston Tour Guides
Free Tours by Foot has been giving year-round tours in Charleston since 2013. We’re proud that over 40,000 Charleston guests (and counting!) have taken one of our local tours.
We’ve been featured in travel guides like Lonely Planet, top press like the New York Times, and travel bloggers from all over the world. We have given tours to Hollywood stars, foreign ambassadors and local elementary schools.
Free Tours by Foot – Charleston is a group of young (and young at heart), fun-loving guides who have come together for a common cause: To teach history and entertain guests with creative tours of Charleston.
We offer free tours for one very important reason, so that everyone can enjoy a fun, creative and educational walking tour experience at a really great price: even FREE. Our pay-what-you-want model means that our guides have to work extra hard to earn your satisfaction. Our tour guides love what they do and will make sure they provide you with the best sightseeing experience possible.
Meet the Crew:
Scott: Scott is a real history and civil war buff. He enjoys showing guests and locals around his beautiful city of which he is very proud of – at the same time he is constantly learning new stories about the sights, the famous and hidden places in Charleston. When he is not leading tours, you’ll probably find him strolling the streets with his dog.
Diana: Diana wound up in Charleston 12 years ago, thanks to a college roommate at The University of Wisconsin who happened to be a Southerner. She quickly learned all she could about her new home – a living museum. Never known to be shy, and a hater of office jobs, she did the next logical thing with her new found knowledge and became a tour guide. After a hiatus to jump into the proverbial “real world” and get her master’s degree in teaching high school English and her certification to teach ESL to adults, Diana went back to tour guiding – what better way combine her loves of people, languages, cultures, and teaching?
