When it comes to the best afternoon tea in London, you really are spoiled for choice!

But if you're travelling with kids, it's worth considering afternoon teas in London for families.

From an afternoon tea for kids to themed afternoon teas, check out our list below to find which option is best for you!

Traditional adult afternoon teas incorporate savoury sandwiches like salmon and cream cheese, cheddar cheese and ham, and egg mayonnaise, with fresh scones accompanied by cream and jam (or even lemon curd), followed by delicious pastries and cakes.

The children's versions you will read below all have varying takes on this classic spread.

Most of the afternoon teas you see below are offered Monday to Friday, but some only run on Saturdays and Sundays so always check the website when planning your itinerary!

Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

Yes, you read that right: this is a Peppa Pig-themed afternoon tea experience that takes place on an iconic, moving, Routemaster bus!

Designed by the creative team at Brigit's Bakery, this is a truly unique kids afternoon tea that takes place while on a whirlwind tour through the city, showcasing Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, and more.

In addition to Peppa Pig-themed sweet and savoury snacks (with champagne on offer for the adults!), each table is equipped with a tablet displaying a "guided animation of the London tour along with sing-a-long songs that the whole family will enjoy."

Each guest will also receive a Peppa Pig activity book to enjoy during - or after - the tour.

The journey takes 90 minutes and costs £38.00 for children.

Fortnum & Mason Children's Afternoon Tea

Fortnum & Mason does one of the best afternoon teas in London, and they are a great choice for families.

Adults can enjoy their classic afternoon tea and there is a separate mini version specifically designed for children aged 4 - 10.

The children's selection includes sandwiches, scones with raspberry jam and cream, and delicious kid-themed afternoon tea cakes!

At £30.00, it's a solidly priced afternoon tea for children and there are vegan options available!

Prince and Princess Afternoon Tea at Reuben's At the Palace

The Reuben's is a well-known luxury hotel with a reputation for doing a delicious 'royal afternoon tea' for adults, but lately, they've begun pulling all the stops out for your little ones, too with their little prince and princess tea!

With simple selections of children's favourites (think strawberry jam sandwiches and iced doughnuts) your 'prince and princess' will love what's on offer.

The location can't be beaten either - who doesn't want afternoon tea near Buckingham Palace, after all?

Expect to pay £35.00 per child - but know they will leave satisfied!

Their partner hotel, the Milestone Hotel, also has a children's afternoon tea although it doesn't come with the royal theme!

Teddy Bear's Picnic Afternoon Tea

The Podium at the London Hilton Park Lane has been dishing up delicious afternoon teas for adults for years.

And now, there is something special for kids: the Teddy Bear's Picnic.

It features three tasty kid-friendly sandwiches as well as a selection of pastries and cakes including a chocolate teddy bear.

There are also special menus with fun activities to keep your little ones occupied.

Priced at £26.00, it's one of the most affordable children's afternoon teas in town.

Sketch Children's Afternoon Tea

Sketch burned onto the London culinary scene a few years ago and it has been delighting adults and children alike ever since.

The venue itself is stunning - think more pink than you've ever seen before in your life - and the food is fit to match!

The adult's afternoon tea menu is a creative, indulgent experience and the children's version is no different.

There are 5 child-friendly sandwiches, 5 deliciously designed cakes, biscuits and pastries, a selection of juices, and your very own teddy bear to take home!

It won't come cheap, though, at £45.00 per child so maybe save this one for a special occasion! Note that they offer a gluten-free version as well!

Peter Pan Afternoon Tea at Aqua Shard

This one is truly magical: a Peter Pan Afternoon Tea just for kids!

Located in the iconic Shard, with stunning views over London, you'll be whisked off to Neverland with this charming take on a traditional afternoon tea.

The menu is based on the description of what the Lost Boys ate in the original book by JM Barrie, and little ones will also have the option to sample a tasty Never Grow Up Punch (with an alcoholic version available for the adults!).

Without revealing too much, the presentation of these dishes is jaw-dropping and the entire experience is truly one of a kind.

It doesn't come cheap at £52.00, but a portion of the profits from each Afternoon Tea sold goes to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, a worthwhile cause.

Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson

This one goes out to all the Alice in Wonderland lovers out there!

Tumble down the rabbit hole and enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea inspired by the classic Alice in Wonderland tale.

Not only are there sweet treats and savoury delights such as Tweedle Brothers Choux Pastries, glittering potions, and Red Knight Army Shortbread Cookies, the Sanderson has also developed one-of-a-kind Alice in Wonderland blended teas - meaning you can't capture these flavours anywhere else.

The price for the 'Little Hatters' afternoon tea is £35.00 with the perfect amount of delectable treats for your little ones.

Cutter and Squidge Harry Potter Afternoon Tea

Okay, so this isn't technically based around Harry Potter (legally speaking) but it's easy to see the real inspiration behind the incredible Afternoon Tea in the Potions Room at Cutter and Squidge.

Located in the "dungeons" this afternoon tea will see you sitting at your school desk, taking in a lesson from the potions master and singing your magic wands.

In addition to delicious cakes and sandwiches, guests will create their own drinkable potions - except for a little bit of magic, some tasty treats, and a goody bag included!

It's not a cheap afternoon tea at £39.50 for children, but we feel it's value for money and occasionally there are promo codes.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea at One Aldwych

This offering is a truly magical culinary experience.

Based on the iconic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story by Roald Dahl, this afternoon tea will have you served with fizzy lifting drinks, snozzberry jam, and a waterfall-mixed chocolate milkshake!

A real delight for adults and children, the whimsy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is completely recreated in front of you with specialty hot chocolates, cocktails, and activities for your little ones.

The children's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea is priced at £38.00 for under-12s.

The Sweetshop Afternoon Tea at the Chesterfield Mayfair

If your little ones have a sweet tooth, then this is the tea for them!

The Chesterfield Hotel has partnered with Mr. Simm's and transformed into an old-fashioned sweet shop and you're invited to stop by and indulge.

Think sweetshop-themed cakes, theatrical drinks, and classic finger sandwiches.

Billed as 'capturing the spirit of a bygone era,' children are invited to enjoy their meal accompanied by old-fashioned milkshakes and scones served with a delectable chocolate spread - and don't forget the actual cupcakes and sweeties!

All for £35.00. Offers are available in the off-season so check their website.

Sci-Fi Tea at the Ampersand Hotel

The Ampersand's close proximity to the Science Museum in South Kensington inspired their Jurassic Afternoon Tea which is directed at adults.

But they now feature a new take on this for the youngsters in your group: The Kid's Sci-Fi Tea.

Think of dinosaurs as biscuits, jellies in petri dishes, edible fossils, and chocolate spacemen.

The entire thing is served up on a rocket-shaped stand with dry ice shooting out of the bottom!

All this for £35.00 per person.
