When you’re in Amsterdam and need to store your luggage, you have multiple options including airport and train station storage, the increasingly popular shared-economy luggage storage and others.

Our local tour guides are often asked by our guests about luggage storage in Amsterdam, so they make sure to stay up-to-date with the answers.

LUGGAGE STORAGE IN AMSTERDAM CENTRAAL

Amsterdam Centraal train station has baggage depots called Bagagekluizen where you can store your bags from one hour to 72 hours.

It is located in the eastern passageway near the front entrance (red box on map). It is open from 5 am to 1 am every day.

How it works:

  • Once you close your locker, you pay at the automatic kiosk and receive a ticket.
  • You pay for the first 24 hours using debit/credit cards. Cash is not accepted.
  • You pay for additional days when you collect your luggage.
  • Do not lose this ticket as there is a €10 charge if you lose it.

Prices:

  • Small Locker
    • 1st day (24 hours): €10
    • 2nd and 3rd day: €15 per day
  • Large Locker
    • 1st day (24 hours): €13
    • 2nd and 3rd day: € 19.50 per day

LUGGAGE STORAGE IN AMSTERDAM (THE SHARED ECONOMY METHOD)

Companies like Bounce and its competitors below offer inexpensive and secure luggage storage at private businesses at low prices.

They coordinate with hundreds of locations such as souvenir and gift shops, convenience stores, cafes, and even hotels that store luggage in their unused non-public locked space.

These locations generally open early and close late, so you have much more flexibility in choosing where to store your bags and when you can drop them off and pick them up.

This kind of luggage storage is quite popular due to its convenience.

Using apps, these companies make it very easy for you to see all the locations in the city and reserve your space.

They are also a great alternative when airport and train lockers are filled up.

TRADITIONAL SELF-STORAGE CENTERS

Apart from luggage depots at the airport and train stations, there are self-storage centers where you can drop your luggage at a specific location and pay a fixed rate per item.

These centers often have restrictive hours and higher prices than companies like Stasher Bounce above.

This bag storage facility on Spuistraat 116 will store your luggage at €6 per day and € 30 a week.

The good thing about this storage center is that it offers you deep savings if you book for 7 days or more.

Hours: Every day 9:00-18:00

Lockerpoint

Lockerpoint is another self-storage center where you can drop your bags and pay from €7 per day.

There are only 7 locations in the city so they may fill up quickly.

LUGGAGE DELIVERY SERVICES

You can also take the help of companies offering same-day luggage delivery services.

The benefit of using this type of service is that you don’t need to go to pick up or drop off your luggage as their staff collects or drops off your bags directly to you.

WHAT LOCALS AND TRAVELERS HAD TO SAY

We looked through our Amsterdam Travel Tips and Hacks Facebook group as well as another, Amsterdam Travel Tips. Here is what locals and travelers had to say.

Bounce was the most often mentioned luggage storage after the train station and airport.

People appreciated the convenience of the app and the number of locations.

A few mentioned private companies, and Bounce was the clear winner when it came to private storage locations.

Many people mentioned Centraal Station lockers as a familiar way to store bags in a public location.

Only a few people mentioned the airport but it seems that storing at Schiphol depends on what your needs are, since only one storage option is accessible before the security checkpoint.
