Afternoon high temperatures tend to be comfortable early in October, generally averaging near 76-77 F (24-25 C) but cool quickly to 68-70 F (20-21 C) near the end of the month. 

A few of the warmer afternoons, especially early in the month, can reach near 85 F (29 C).

The record high temperature in Nashville during October is 99 F (37.2 C).

Late night and early morning low temperatures will likely be near 54-57 F (12-14 C) early in October dropping to near 47 F (8 C) near the end of the month.

A few of the cooler mornings, especially near the end of the month, can dip down near 34 F (1 C). 

The record low temperature in Nashville during October is 26 F (-3.3 C).


Sun and Rain

During October you can expect, on average, about 13 sunny, 8 partly sunny, and 10 mostly cloudy days. 

There will normally be 8-9 days with some measurable rain, however, only 2-3 of these will record 0.5 inches (13 mm) or more.

The number of daylight hours decreases rapidly this month from about 11.8 hours on the 1st to about 10.7 hours on the 31st. 


Windspeed

Wind speeds tend to be light to gentle this month, averaging 4-12 mph (6-19 kph) with briefly higher gusts.


What to Wear in Nashville in October

October features mostly autumn-like weather in Nashville.

A light-weight jacket will come in handy for the cooler nights and mornings with a windbreaker or sweater for the cooler afternoons.

In addition, some jeans, perhaps a pair of cowboy boots, and long pants are suggested. 

A raincoat or umbrella is a plus for rainy days and don’t forget a good pair of walking shoes for your visit as the downtown district is hilly, so comfortable footwear is a must. 


Things to Do in Nashville in October

Although it is getting later in the year, there will be plenty of sunny days to enjoy in Nashville this month, which makes October the perfect time for a pay-what-you-wish walking tour.

As usual, you can look forward to plenty of great musical artists performing at the Grand Ole Opry, and there will undoubtedly be quite a few great concerts to attend elsewhere throughout the city.

The football season will also be in full swing, so you can look forward to at least one or two Tennessee Titans games.

Hockey fans will also be happy to hear that the Nashville Predators will have several matches in October. Check here for all sporting events this month.
