Updated: März 10, 2024

This post will show you how to get free tickets for The View, including standby tickets, with tips to help you plan your attendance.

Be sure to check out our how-to guide about attending other NYC TV show tapings.

WHERE AND WHEN IS THE VIEW TAPED?

The View tapes live on weekdays from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at the ABC Studios at 57 West 66th Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.

To travel by subway, take the 1 train to 66th Street - Lincoln Center station.

You can also take the A, C, or D trains to 59 St - Columbus Circle Station or 72nd Street Station, but the walk from the station is a bit longer.

Use this link for directions to the studio from your departure location.

TIP: If you are new to using the subway you may find the following posts helpful.

If you are considering a hop-on-hop-off bus ticket while in the city, keep in mind that all companies have a stop within walking distance of the studio.

TICKETS TO THE VIEW

Go to the 1Iota website, the hub to request free tickets for many TV shows in NYC.

Here you will find a calendar that tells you which dates are available or sold out. It will look like this:

Once you decide on a date, just click on it, and you will then be asked to choose how many tickets you want.

Select the number of tickets and then click "Next". You will then be asked to register with 1Iota. The show is free to attend and there there is no cost to book tickets.

You will then be asked to enter your contact information and date of birth (all guests must be 18 years old or over). Once you have registered you can confirm your request for tickets.

You will be notified via email when your tickets are approved. Your ticket will be an e-ticket and you do not need to print it, you can simply show your phone when you arrive.

Like other TV show tapings, your ticket does not guarantee entry, so get there early!

Tip: Tickets are free, so avoid anyone who tries to sell you one.

If you do not receive tickets for your chosen date, you can always try the standby line on the day of the taping.

STANDBY TICKETS

If you don't get tickets or are feeling spontaneous, you can try for standby/same-day tickets.

At 8:30 am, standby numbers are handed out at the audience entrance at 57 West 66th Street (see directions above).

To increase your chances of getting standby tickets, be sure to get there and join the line before 8:30 am.

After you receive a standby number, you can leave. Return to the same location at 10:20 am to find out if there are empty seats in the audience.

Standby number holders are admitted in order of the number they received until all seats are full. You are not guaranteed to get in, but it is worth a try.

New York Walking Tours

TIP: Since you'll have some waiting time between 8:30 am and 10:20 am, there are some interesting nearby attractions.

For example, you are within walking distance of the Dakota Apartments on 72nd Street where John Lennon lived and died, and Strawberry Fields, Lennon's memorial.

Check out our Central Park Guide which has tons of information about the many things to do and see in the park.

You are also just one block away from the world-famous Lincoln Center.

PLAN YOUR ATTENDANCE

The show begins taping at 11 am. Your e-ticket will include all the most up-to-date information regarding your check-in process including when to arrive.

Taping takes between 60-90 minutes. Occasionally, there are extra tapings filmed following the live show. These extra tapings may take an additional 30-60 minutes.

What Is the Dress Code for the View?

The View does have a dress code for live audience members.

Guests are encouraged to dress “upscale casual” and look trendy or fashionable. No tank tops, no large logos on hats or shirts, no t-shirts, no shorts, and no solid white or solid black tops.

We recommend you bring a sweater to keep warm as taping studios can sometimes be quite cold.
