This post is an overview of the weather in Paris during December, including temperatures and rain forecasts, as well as things to do.
As a retired meteorologist turned tour guide, I didn't expect that I would use my experience as a forecaster in my new career in tourism.
But here I am, finding myself answering more weather questions as a blogger than I ever did as a weatherman.
So, here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the weather in Paris for the month of December.
HOW COLD IS PARIS IN DECEMBER?
December in Paris is cold and tends to be mostly cloudy.
There will be, however, several days when the skies are partly to mostly sunny.
Daytime high temperatures tend to be mostly between mid-40s F (6-8C) with a few of the warmer afternoons, early in the month getting up into the mid-50s F (13-14C).
The record high temperature in Paris during December is 63 F (17C).
Late night and early morning low temperatures tend to be in the mid to upper 30s F (1 to 3C).
A few of the colder mornings, especially near the end of the month can dip down into the mid-20s F (-4 to -3C).
The record low temperature in Paris in December is 14F (-10C).
HOW MUCH SUN AND RAIN?
December in Paris tends to be on the cloudy side, however, 8-9 days this month will still be sunny or at least partly sunny.
Some precipitation falls on average on 15 days this month, however, only 8-9 days will record at least 1 mm (0.04 inches).
The risk for snow is fairly low this month, occurring only about once every 2-3 years.
During the month of December, daylight decreases from about 8.5 hours to about 8.25 hours by the 22nd.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
December is cold so dress for winter with a winter coat, warm hats, gloves, and at least one scarf.
A good pair of boots plus some good walking shoes would also be recommended.
Also, an umbrella or raincoat will also come in handy.
