Interested in a different view of Washington, DC? Join us as we venture through the downtown streets on our Dupont Circle Walking Tour tour discussing stories of the dark side and forgotten tales. From curses and assassinations at the embassies to the home of the accidental inventor of the electric chair. These shrouded mansions built and then abandoned by millionaires were once lived in by wild women and philandering men.
We'll see talk about sites long lost to guidebooks and see the remnants of the bygone era. The mansions turned embassies, City Beautiful public works walked by, and the old call boxes that became obsolete with modern technology.
This tour, while not overly gruesome or scary, covers adult topics such as affairs and assassinations. We think of it as more humor than horror but its probably not best for kids.
For a family friendly and more historic version, take the daytime Historic Embassy Row & Dupont Circle Walking Tour. We do not recommend taking both.
Sights we may see on the Dark Side of Dupont Circle Walking tour:
- Attempted and Assassinations of Mitchell Palmer, Orlando Letelier, Ronald Regan
- Curse of the Hope Diamond at the Indonesian Embassy
- George Westinghouse's affiliation with the electric chair
- "House of Truth"
- Original Mean Girls: Evalyn Walsh Mclean, Alice Roosevelt, Cissy Patterson, Alice Pike Barney and their historic mansions.
...and much more!
Other Adults Only tours include Haunted Georgetown and White House at Night.
