2. Attend a Festival

There are more than just music festivals taking place in Barcelona this summer..

Here are a few more you might enjoy:

Corpus Christie's L'ou com Balla | May 30th-June 2nd

In a few places in the Gothic Quarter, an egg is placed atop of fountain of water where it "dances".

Patum de Berga | May 29th-June 2nd

A 600-year-old festival in the town of Berga, about an hour and 20 minutes from Barcelona) with street entertainment, giants, fire, dancing, and devils.

Trofeu de Vela Comte de Godó | May 29th-June 2nd

Head down to the water and catch a sailing regatta with some of the best boats in the world


3. Nit de Sant Joan

St. John is the Patron Saint of Bardeola, and his birthday happens at the time of the summer solstice, the shortest night of the year.

There is a celebration on St. John's Eve, June 23, where celebrations take place around the city to the sounds of music and fireworks.

You also won't miss the bonfires meant to drive off evil spirits, the Reveltres (parties), and the dancing.

You might also see folks heading to the water for a bath - meant to symbolize purity- or dining on the beach. Bars and restaurants along the beach open up for the many folks who've come to celebrate.

The following day, June 24, is a public holiday so many businesses will be closed.


4. Grec Festival de Barcelona

The annual Grec Festival showcases music, theatre, dance, circus arts, and other cultural and artistic performances

Events take place at the Grec Theatre (Greek Theatre) as well as other locations across Barcelona.

Although the 2-24 dates haven't yet been released yet, the festival has taken place for almost 50 years. It's likely to return again.

5. Enjoy a Flamenco Show

While visiting one of the biggest cities in Spain, you should also experience one of the most popular traditional Spanish dances – the Flamenco!

No matter when you visit Barcelona, there are almost always at least a few venues where professional Flamenco dancers perform every night of the week.

Whether you're looking for a good date night idea for Valentine's Day or you just want a fun activity to keep warm or avoid any potential rainy days in February, this is a great activity full of local flavor.

6. Take a Food Tour

Barcelona is famous for its cuisine. If trying local food isn't already on your list of things to do, you might want to add it.

8. Tour Camp Nou Football Stadium

Futbol Club Barcelona, one of the best and most popular football teams in the world, plays out of the famous Camp Nou football stadium.

If you are traveling with kids, you can take a tour of Camp Nou, a family-friendly activity!

You'll see where the players spend their time, and tour through a small museum of sports memorabilia.


9. Learn How to Make Paella

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to authentic Spanish cuisine, now you can!

After seeing La Boqueria with the chef to learn about and purchase the ingredients, you’ll get expert instruction on this traditional seafood dish.

This paella cooking experience will lead you through the steps.

You’ll start by mixing your own Sangria and having a taste of some tapas before the chef starts the interactive cooking workshop.

This cooking class includes all the food required, as well as your choice of drinks.

After the meal and drink, you’ll get all the recipes emailed to you to recreate!

Of course, if you’re more excited about eating than cooking, you can take a great tapas tour or sample all sorts of Spanish cuisine on a Secret Food Tour of the city


10. Open Air Cinema Sala Montjuic

June marks the beginning of weekly open-air cinema nights at Sala Montjuic! The weather is perfect for lounging out in the evenings with other locals and visitors.

Doors open at 20:30 (8:30 pm), the concert at 20:45 (8:45 pm), and the film itself at 22:00 (10:00 pm). You'll want to arrive long before the film starts because seating goes quickly.

Food stalls and a bar are available! You can even purchase a pre-packed eco-friendly picnic. Of course, you can also bring your own food.

Tickets are priced reasonably ( €7.50/no lounger | €10.50 with a lounger).

11. See a Comedy Show or Open-Mic Night

You can find stand-up comedy - in English - every Friday night at Comedy Bomb Shelter.

Performances feature touring comics from all over the world. The atmosphere in the pub is laid back and friendly.

If you go on other nights of the week, you can also find live music and open-mic poetry or storytelling nights!

NOTE: Comedy Bomb Shelter also runs paid showcases and comedy shows, with the ticket prices usually staying between €5 - €10!
