How Cold Is Berlin in December?
Daytime high temperatures tend to be around 5-6 C (41-42 F) early in December, falling to 2-3 C (36-38 F) near the end of the month.
A few of the warmer days, mostly early in the month, can reach up near 11C (52 F).
The record high temperature in Berlin during December was 15.6 C (60 F).
Late night and early morning low temperatures will be around 0 to 1 C (32-34 F) early in December, falling to - 2 to -1 C (28-30 F) by the end of the month.
A few of the colder mornings, especially late in the month, can dip down to around -3 C (26 F).
Overall, about 19 days this month see temperatures dipping to 0 C (32 F) or less.
Does It Snow in Berlin in December?
During December in Berlin, you can expect about 4-5 sunny, 3-5 partly sunny, and 22-23 mostly cloudy days.
Some precipitation falls on about 20 days with snow falling on 6-10 of these.
Total snowfall during December, however, is light, at 2.5-5 cm (1-2 inches) but sometimes can total 8-13 cm (3-5 inches).
Daylight
Total daylight hours fall from just over 8 hours on the 1st to a minimum of about 7.6 hours on the 21st.
Windspeed
The wind this month tends to be gentle to moderate at 12-28 kph (8-18 mph) but briefly can be fresh at 29-38 kph (19-24 mph).
What to Wear in Berlin in December?
Winter in Berlin is cold and damp and requires dressing in layers, including some thermal underwear.
A heavy water-resistant coat is a must, along with some long wool scarves and gloves.
Also, you should consider bringing along a couple of sweaters, warm socks, and waterproof boots.
Things to Do in Berlin in December
It will be pretty cold, and chances are there will be some rain and even a little snow.
But, if you can handle the weather, you might want to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Berlin.
Since it is the holiday season, you might want to consider visiting one of the many wonderful Christmas markets in Berlin.
If you're visiting with children, consider taking them to the Christmas Garden, where the whole family can enjoy some ice skating!
