Boston's Museum of Science

The Museum of Science started in 1830 as the Boston Society of Natural History and was commonly referred to as the Boston Museum of Natural History. When it moved to its current location at 1 Science Park after WWII, it became the Museum of Science.  It has over 700 interactive exhibits as well as a Planetarium, Imax Theatre and the super cool lightning room.

HOURS:

Summer Hours (July 5 – Labor Day, September 1)

Saturday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm
Friday, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

Regular Hours (January 1 – July 4 and September 2 – December 31)

Saturday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Friday, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

ADMISSION:

Admission to the exhibit halls ranges from $20-23 depending on age. Additional tickets are needed for:

  • Mugar Omni Theater ($10 as single visit or $6 added on to an exhibit hall ticket)
  • Charles Hayden Planetarium ($10 as single visit or $6 added on to an exhibit hall ticket)
  • Butterfly Garden* ($6 added on to an exhibit hall ticket)
  • 4-D Theater* ($6 added on to an exhibit hall ticket)

Visits are free with one of the Boston tourist passes!

DIRECTIONS:

MBTA station is Science Park on the Green Line.

The museum's address is 1 Science Park Boston, MA 02114. There is a parking garage on site but it often fills up so plan on getting there early!
