In this post, we will provide details about some of the organized bus tours of Cambridge you can take from London. We include information about ticket prices, availability, discounts and more.

ORGANIZED BUS TOURS TO CAMBRIDGE

The following section will cover bus tours which take you from London to Cambridge with few stops in between. These are day trips which will typically last for 10 hours or more.

If you want a lot of time to explore the area, this will be a much better option than organized bus tours with additional stops. Each outing includes either a walking tour or access to a notable landmark.

Unfortunately, these trips aren’t offered very frequently, so you may want to consider another option if you don’t feel like waiting for the next available date.

For information about organized bus tours which include stops at additional sites, make sure to read our section about Oxford & Cambridge organized bus tours.

Anderson Tours

This well-reviewed company currently offers one of the few organized bus tours to Cambridge which doesn’t include stops at additional locations.

In addition to transportation to and from Cambridge, you’ll also receive a guided tour of the area and entry to the Tower of Saint Mary the Great.

Although there is a tour included, you will be given several hours to explore the college town at your leisure.

Check our post on things to do in Cambridge to get a few ideas for fun activities!

Although the price is definitely fair, the main issue with this outing is that it isn’t frequently available. As a matter of fact, this organized bus tour is currently being offered once every two weeks or so on average.

That said, Anderson Tours has received a 4 ½ out of 5 stars rating on Get Your Guide (read reviews here) for this day trip, so it’s clear that most customers enjoyed their service.

NOTE: Although this outing is not included with any tourist pass, Anderson Tours does have 3-day trips with the iVenture Card. If you’re looking to visit any other areas in England, this could be a great way to save some money.

Viator

If you’re looking for an even more affordable day trip to Cambridge, this may be one of the least expensive options on our list.

Customers can expect transportation to and from the area in addition to a walking tour of the most notable landmarks in the city.

The tour itself will last 1 hour, which means you’ll have plenty of time to explore at your own leisure afterward.

Take a look at our things to do in Cambridge post for activity ideas.

As with the outing offered by Anderson Tours, this day trip is also offered very infrequently – once or twice a month at most. If you’re interested, it’ll be important to plan out your trip well in advance.

It’s also worth noting that their rating of 3 out of 5 stars (read reviews here) isn’t fantastic. Some people suggest the tour is amazing, but others felt the outing gave them too much free time.

ORGANIZED OXFORD & CAMBRIDGE BUS TOURS

In this section, we will provide details about some of the organized bus tours that include a stop at Oxford in addition to visiting Cambridge.

Most day trips last for an entire day, but there are a few outings that are only about 10 hours long.

The main advantage of these Oxford & Cambridge organized bus tours is that they are much more readily available than the day trips which focus only on one location.

That said, you’ll also spend less time in Cambridge as a result, so you may want to consider another option such as a self-guided tour if you really want to explore the area.

Indigo Travels

This is the least expensive multiple destination options on our list, and it includes a stop at both Cambridge and Oxford. Aside from transportation to and from each city, customers will also receive walking tours of both college towns.

You will be given some free time to enjoy each location, but your time for exploration will be very limited as this is a rather short day trip.

Although this tour is very affordable, it’s not always going to be available, as it’s only offered on Saturdays. If you’re looking to take a day trip on any other day of the week, it will be necessary to choose another service.

Even though availability is limited, this organized bus tour currently has a 4 ½ out of 5 stars rating on Get Your Guide (read reviews here). Most customers indicate that this is a great quick overview of each city.

Evan Evans Tours

This outing is a bit more costly, but it also includes admission to several notable Cambridge and Oxford sites in addition to transportation to and from each location.

Customers will have the opportunity to enter Christ Church College and King’s College, as well as walking tours of each city. Unfortunately, you won’t have much time to explore Oxford or Cambridge on your own.

  • Ticket Prices: £99/Adults | £89/Kids | £94/Seniors & Students
  • Duration: 1 day
  • Hours: Starts at 9 am
  • Availability: Tuesday & Saturday
  • Purchase tickets or learn more.

While this tour is more expensive than the other Oxford/Cambridge day trips, it’s also available more frequently. The addition of walking tours in each city and admission to notable landmarks certainly makes this organized bus tour worthwhile.

With an overall rating of about 4 out of 5 stars on Get Your Guide (read reviews here), this is a fairly well-reviewed service. The only major complaint anyone had was that there wasn’t enough time to explore each city at your own leisure.

SELF-GUIDED CAMBRIDGE DAY TRIP

If you want to spend a full day exploring the city at your own leisure, one of the best options is simply to make the trip yourself either by train or coach.

Depending on how you choose to get there, you can expect to pay anywhere from £10-£25 for a return ticket to and from Cambridge.

Another advantage of this option is that you can enjoy a self-guided outing any day of the week. Organized Cambridge bus tours are only offered a few days per week at most, so this is a much more accessible opportunity.

Since you’ll be saving money on travel, you will probably have some money left over to spend on additional activities that you can learn about on our post covering things to do in Cambridge.

For more details on how long the trip can take and where you can get train or coach tickets, please read our post on how to get to Cambridge.
