Updated: 22 diciembre 2023

Be prepared to purchase tickets weeks in advance of your desired show date.

HAMILTON $10 LOTTERY TICKETS

Several Broadway shows have ticket lotteries in which you can win deeply discounted tickets for that night’s performance.

Winning Hamilton tickets through the online digital lottery is probably the best deal in NYC at just $10 per ticket.

Plus, it's easy to enter!

What is a Broadway Lottery

First, download the official app (available for iOS and Android devices).

Once you have the app, you can enter into the lottery, though there is a specific time frame.

You can submit your name every Friday starting from 10 am for the following week’s performances.

You may enter the lottery only once per performance. If you win you can purchase up to 2 tickets.

The lottery is held the following Thursday at 12 pm.

Winner and non-winner notifications will be sent between 1 pm and 4 pm that day via both email and mobile push notification.

Once you have been notified that you have won, you have two hours to purchase your tickets online using a credit card.

Your tickets can be picked up at the box office starting two hours prior to the performance. You will need to bring a valid photo ID.

A few things to keep in mind when entering the Hamilton lottery:

  • There are a very limited number of tickets offered.
  • The tickets may be partial view tickets.
  • There is a chance that pairs may be split up.

Read all the details here.

$40 STANDING-ROOM-ONLY TICKETS

Hamilton, like several other Broadway shows, offers standing-room-only (SRO) tickets.

This is precisely what it sounds like. rather than buying a seat, you are buying a numbered spot to stand just behind the last row in the orchestra section.

These tickets are only offered for the same-day performance and are not guaranteed to be available.

You will need to stand in line at the Richard Rodgers Theatre box office to get these $40 tickets.

The box office opens at 10 am, but it’s wise to get there early for this regularly sold-out show.

The downside is that you will have a spot, and not a seat.

This is not a good option for you if you don’t want (or are unable) to stand for a long period of time.

Hotels.com: $99 or Less

Another con is that waiting in line for an SRO ticket does not guarantee you will get a ticket and you will have just spent most of your day sitting in a street in the Theater District for nothing.

NYC TOURIST ATTRACTION DISCOUNT PASSES

Many tourist discount passes offer savings on select Broadway shows, including Hamilton.

It's tough to say whether these discounts are worth much as you need to educate yourself about how much a full-price ticket is going for.

There are, of course, many other benefits of getting a tourist pass.

The biggest benefit is saving a great deal of money. Some passes can save you up to 55% on your itinerary of attractions to see.

To find out if getting a tourist pass is right for you, our post, New York City Attraction Passes: Which One Is the Best to Buy, will help you make that decision.

ABOUT HAMILTON

One of the best Broadway shows of all time, Hamilton is the epic saga of the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

Broadway sensation Lin-Manuel Miranda composed both the score, lyrics and show book.

Based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography, the show tells the tale of how Hamilton fought for honor and left behind a legacy that would shape the course of a nation.

The real-life story provides insight into the politics of the era and Hamilton's relationship with figures like George Washington, Aaron Burr, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.

Miranda's musical score blends show tunes, jazz, R&B, and even hip-hop, Hamilton captures the dawn of a new nation.

In addition to its 11 Tony Awards, Hamilton has won the Olivier Awards,  a Grammy, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

Other show credits are for direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire.
