This post is about how to get discounted tickets to Wicked on Broadway, including $30 lottery orchestra tickets and other discounts.

Since October of 2003, Wicked has been one of the world’s most popular musicals.

Winner of three Tony Awards, Wicked tells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, long before Dorothy of The Wizard of Oz enters the story.

How Much Does It Cost To See Wicked On Broadway?

Tickets are on sale through TodayTix and other online vendors with a few discount options available.

Sometimes StubHub and Ticketmaster offer slightly cheaper tickets or better seats for the same price as TodayTix. It's worth a look.

Regular-priced tickets through TodayTix usually start from about $99 for mezzanine seating and can reach nearly $230 for premium seating, depending on the day of the week.

$30 On-Site Wicked Lottery Tickets

Wicked, like several other Broadway productions, offers an on-site ticket lottery.

Held daily, this is a day-of-performance lottery for 26 select orchestra seats for $30 each.

Two and half hours prior to show time, people who stand in line at the Gershwin Theatre box office will have their names placed in a hat.

A half-hour later, names will be drawn for the 26 orchestra tickets.

The limit is two tickets per person. The payment is in cash only. A photo ID is required.

We have an in-depth post on Broadway ticket lotteries, how they work, and which shows offer them, that you should read.

Digital Lottery Tickets

Wicked also offers a digital lottery where you can enter online to win same-day discount tickets.

Wicked Lottery Tickets NYC

Tickets for a weekday show cost just $49. The price goes up to $59 for Friday evening, Saturday matinee, Saturday evening and Sunday matinee.

Before 2 pm, the day of the show you can fill out a form and enter.

After the lottery closes, you will be notified via email within minutes as to whether you won or not.

You will have 60 minutes to pay by credit card if you are notified you have won.

Seats are assigned at the discretion of the box office and cannot be transferred to other people or performances. Please note that lottery seats may have a partially obstructed view of the stage.

Other Discounts For Wicked Tickets

It's always worth it to take a look at Groupon or Goldstar to see if there are any discount tickets for Wicked available.

Many tourist discount passes offer savings on select Broadway shows, including Hamilton.

It's tough to say whether these discounts are worth much as you need to educate yourself about how much a full-price ticket is going for.

There are, of course, many other benefits of getting a tourist pass.

The biggest benefit is saving a great deal of money. Some passes can save you up to 55% on your itinerary of attractions to see.

To find out if getting a tourist past is right for you, our post, New York City Attraction Passes: Which One Is the Best to Buy, will help you make that decision.

Military and Student Discounts

Sometimes there are military and student tickets available. This isn't always the case, so it's best to visit the show's FAQ page to confirm

However, when available, both discounts are usually available for Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday evening performances only.

Student tickets are $69 and military tickets are $79.

These tickets are available in person at the Gershwin Theatre box office with a valid college, university, or military ID.

Tickets at the military rate are also available online at www.GovX.com.

Tickets are subject to availability. The limit is 2 tickets per ID.
