How is the Weather in Dublin in February?

February in Dublin tends to be cold and damp and is a tourist off-season so prices will tend to be lower. 


Temperature

Daytime high temperatures will average around 8 C (about 47 F).

But, a few of the warmer days will see afternoon highs around 12 C (mid-50s F), especially near the end of the month. 

The record high temperature in Dublin during February is 16.2 C (61.2 F).

Late night and early morning low temperatures will tend to be near 2-3 C (mid-upper 30s F) with a few of the colder mornings, especially early in the month, dipping down to around -1 C (near 30 F). 

In all, about 4-5 mornings this month will record low temperatures at or below 0 C (32F). 

The record low temperature in Dublin during February is -6.7 C (19.9 F).


HOW MUCH RAIN?

On average, about 9-11 days this month will be sunny or at least partly sunny. 

Precipitation falls on about 15 days, however, only about 3 of these days will record 5mm (0.2 inches) or more.

Some snow falls on about 4 days this month but accumulations of 2.5 cm (1 inch) or more occur only about once every other year. 


Daylight

Daylight increases rapidly this month from just under 9 hours on the 1st to 10.8 hours by the 28th. 


Windspeed

Dublin during February is quite breezy with mostly moderate breezes of 13-18 mph (20-28 kph) prevailing.

But, the city can often increase to fresh to briefly strong breezes at 19-31 mph (29-49 kph).


Ocean Temperatures

Dublin lies along the western edge of the Irish Sea which during February is very cold with water temperatures averaging near 8 C (about 47 F).


What to Wear in Dublin during February?

February in Dublin is cold so bring along winter attire including jeans or other heavy trousers.

Also include long sleeve tops and shirts, hoodies, and a warm and preferably waterproof coat.

A couple of scarves, some gloves, and warm socks will also help. Don’t forget some good walking shoes or boots.


Things to Do in Dublin in February

Even though spring is right around the corner, it's still going to be pretty cold in February.

If you want to avoid the weather, there will be plenty of fun indoors activities to enjoy.

One of the best concerts of the month will be KSI at the Olympia Theatre.

You'll also have two opportunities to cheer on the Ireland National Rugby Union team in the Six Nations games.
