AVAILABLE CONCESSION TICKET OPTIONS

As of March 2024, there is only one way to get daily, concessionary tickets to The Lion King: through an online lottery.

While some tourist passes will offer deals on Broadway tickets now and then, there are not currently any services offering such a concession.

There is also usually a special 2-for-1 ticket deal from mid-January to mid-February and again in early to mid-September.

New York Concession Passes

If you are considering purchasing a tourist attraction concession pass, then keep in mind that many New York passes will offer promo codes for Broadway tickets.

And at times they might even offer free tickets.

As of March 2024, there aren't currently any passes offering price cuts or free Broadway tickets.

That said, you might still want to check and see if any of these services have added this type of deal to their pass:

It's worth noting that these passes will also frequently offer tours of Broadway, so if you're looking for more things to do in the area, they've got you covered!

To find out if getting a tourist pass is right for you, our post, New York City Attraction Passes: Which One Is the Best to Buy will help you make that decision.

The Lion King Lottery

A digital lottery (entered online, not in person) is a random drawing where the winners receive deep price cuts on any number of Broadway shows.

Only a very limited number of tickets are offered through lottery systems.

When and how to enter the lottery:

Lottery entries for each performance will be accepted the day before a performance between 9 am and 3 pm that same day.

To enter the lottery, click Lion King Ticket Lottery.

There you will see the performances for the next day. Only one date is listed at a time.

You can choose an evening performance and on some days, matinee performances are available as well.

Click ENTER for the performance you want to attend and fill out the entry form.

After the lottery closes at 3 pm, you will be notified via email within minutes as to whether you won or not.

You can also check to see if you won. Click here to check your status.

If you are selected as a winner, you have just 60 minutes from the time of email notification to purchase the tickets, or you will lose them.

The ticket price is $35 per ticket. You can buy a maximum of two (2) tickets.

You must pay with a credit card.

Keep these important things in mind when you enter the lottery:

  • You won't be able to choose your seats. Seating is at the discretion of the box office.
  • It's possible that your seats may have a partially obstructed view.
  • Do not enter more than once for a single performance as your entries will result in disqualification from the lottery.

Broadway Week 2 for 1 Tickets

Aside from the lottery, there is only one other option for concessionary tickets to The Lion King.

Twice a year, Broadway Week takes place. It runs through mid-January to mid-February and again early to mid-September

You can get 2-for-1 tickets for many of the best Broadway shows and musicals.

Pay close attention to when the tickets for The Lion King go on sale because they will sell out quickly.

And if you are planning to be in NYC during Broadway Week, see what else is going on during January, February and September.

OTHER CHEAPER TICKET OPTIONS

The Lion King is still one of the most popular musicals on Broadway, so there are not many cheaper ticket opportunities.

Below are other cheaper opportunities that many other shows offer but, as of March 2024, the Lion King does not offer. But this can change.

We update this post every 6 months so keep checking back!

TKTS Booths

A well-known day-of-show concessionary ticket service run by TDF (Theatre Development Fund).

There are two TKTS booths where you stand in line to purchase tickets for certain shows that are usually 30% to 50% off box office prices.

Whether or not the show you want to see has tickets available depends on how many tickets that show has made available and how many people have bought tickets.

Goldstar, Groupony Living Social

These websites offer regular promos of up to 50% off of many shows in NYC.

RUSH & Standing Room Only

Rush tickets are another inexpensive way to see a show, though it can involve a bit of time spent in line.

Rush tickets were started with the idea that affordable tickets should be made available for every show.

Rush tickets are offered only on the day of the performance at the box office of each show (check what times that theater's box office opens, usually 10 am).

There are a few types of ticket rushes: General Rush tickets, Student Rush tickets and standing-room-only tickets.

As of March 2024, there are no Rush or Standing Room tickets for The Lion King, but there are other shows.
