Where to Store Your Luggage in Boston

Updated: 12 marzo 2024

Our local tour guides are often asked by our guests about whree they can store their luggage in Boston, so they make sure to stay up-to-date with the answers.

In this post, we explain luggage storage options in Boston, featuring a popular trend in luggage storage sharing as well as storage in South Station and near Logan Airport.

TIP: For budget travelers, it is worth considering purchasing a money-saving tourist attraction pass.

These passes can save you up to 50% on attraction and tour tickets.

LUGGAGE STORAGE ( SHARED ECONOMY SYSTEM)

Bounce and the companies listed below employ a 'shared economy' system to provide luggage storage around the world.

These reputable companies contract with local businesses that have private space to store your luggage securely and at a very low price.

Storage locations include souvenir shops, convenience stores, restaurants, coffee houses, hotels and more.

You book your storage through the companies' websites or their easy-to-use apps.

Most of these services offer luggage storage locations within a few blocks of major attractions like the following:

  • Faneuil Hall Marketplace
  • New England Aquarium
  • Harvard University
  • Boston Common
  • Freedom Trail
  • Fenway Park
  • TD Garden
  • And more!

Since luggage storage options are limited at transport hubs like Logan Airport and South Station, these services are a lifesaver.

You can easily check these companies' websites or apps to see if they offer a luggage storage facility in the area where you need it.

Bounce

Bounce can store your bags for a low price at more than 100 locations throughout Boston so you won't have trouble finding a drop-off point.

You pay $6 per bag per day. All bags are priced the same, regardless of bag size. Plus they offer $10,000 insurance.

We also like how Bounce customers rate and review each of their locations you can read before checking your bags.

If you need to cancel, do so before your scheduled check-in time to receive a full refund.

Additional Companies

Several other companies are offering a similar service. Some have a few side benefits that are worth noting below.

Some might offer more convenient locations for you than Bounce.

Vertoe

Vertoe is America’s largest on-demand short-term storage provider with a presence in over 20 major cities with 300+ locations in the US.

They have over two dozen locations in Boston alone and are adding more every day.

Many of their locations are open 24/7 and they offer 24/7 customer support.

SOUTH STATION LUGGAGE STORAGE OPTIONS

Currently, Amtrak does not offer baggage storage for either passengers or non-passengers. This may change at some point so be sure to check Amtrak's station detail page.

Boston South Station Luggage Storage

There is one option offered by the private business, Teddy Ballgames.

They are located at the top of the escalator in the main lobby and will store your bags for a day, overnight, and multiple days.

Their hours are Monday-Friday, 7 am - 6 pm; Saturday-Sunday, 9 am - 4 pm.

Be sure to call 617-330-1230 to confirm rates and hours.

BOSTON'S LOGAN AIRPORT LUGGAGE STORAGE OPTIONS

Unfortunately, there are no luggage lockers or facilities available at Boston Logan International Airport. That said, there are two options that you might want to consider.

The first is a luggage-sharing option, such as Bounce.

You can choose a location near a Boston T stop so that it's easy to gather your luggage on the way to the airport. This will require a bit of planning.

Rowes Wharf Water Taxi

This is one of the best ways to reach downtown Boston from Logan Airport, and they offer their passengers free luggage storage at their office.

While there are several water taxis in the area, the Rowes Wharf location is the only place where you can store your items.

They offer a special airport package for only $28 which includes pickup, storage, and return.

This is only a short-term option, as they will only hold onto your items for a short time.

It's also worth noting that they probably won't have a lot of room to store things, so this service might be limited to smaller baggage.

Other Options

If you're not interested in the storage-sharing opportunities listed above, there is one place where you might be able to store luggage and other items.

Some of the nicer hotels in Boston might be willing to hold onto your belongings for a short time if you ask nicely and tip well.

This isn't exactly the safest option out there (no insurance), and there are no guarantees that it will work out for you, but it could be a viable alternative for some visitors.
