This post lists the many options in Rome, Italy, for storing your luggage.

We include locker storage at airports and train stations to the growing trend in shared economy "Airbnb-style" storage. 


LUGGAGE STORAGE IN ROME (THE AIRBNB METHOD) 

Now, instead of relying on lockers in inconvenient places, or overpriced luggage storage facilities, you can now drop off your bags at a wide range of shops and restaurants around the city! 


Stasher (formerly CityStasher) 

Stasher and its competitors are very reputable storage services that work similarly to Airbnb.

You'll use the app to find a shop, hotel, or other staffed location to leave your bags for a low fee (just €5 per day!). 

Storage points, they call them stash points, are available across Vatican City and near several Roman attractions and neighborhoods like the Pantheon, Sistine Chapel, Spanish steps, Piazza Venezia, and Rome's city center.

Radical Storage

Radical Storage is unique in that its storage locations (called ‘Angels’) may be a restaurant or bar, hotel, a bike rental shop, or laundromat. 

Radical Storage can be found in cities all over Europe and the United States, such as New York, Londres, Parisy Berlín

The cost is €5 per bag for 24 hours, even if you only need to store your bags for a few hours. 

Reservations are non-refundable and non-cancellable. The price includes insurance with coverage of up to €200 for each bag.

Vertoe is an on-demand short-term storage service provider. With 500+ locations worldwide, Vertoe is now available in Rome!

Vertoe is currently active at 23 locations in Rome, near major landmarks like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Piazza Navona.

They also have locations in most major train stations.

LUGGAGE STORAGE AT THE AIRPORT

While Rome has two airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino, visitors can find luggage facilities only at Fiumicino Airport.

Fiumicino Airport Left Luggage

Fiumicino - Leonardo da Vinci International Airport 

The left-luggage facility at Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci Airport is located on the street level of Terminal 3.

They are open from 6.30 to 23.30 (6:30 am to 11:30 pm).

The cost is €10 per item for each 24-hour period. The full daily rate is still charged for periods less than 24 hours.

LUGGAGE STORAGE AT TRAIN & BUS STATIONS 

Rome Termini Train Station

Roma Termini Train Station is open from 6:00-23:00 (6 am till 11 pm).

The price is €6 flat for the first 5 hours, then €0.90 per hour for the next 6-12 hours, then €0.40 per hour beyond 12 hours.

The maximum length of the luggage deposit is 5 days.

Note: There's a weight limit of 20 Kg per item, but is not always enforced. Still, err on the side of caution and keep your bag light. 

TIP:  How to Use Romes Metro (Subway, Bus, Tram)

Rome Termini Bus Station is located just beside Roma Tiburtina Train Station, but, unfortunately, neither facility offers luggage lockers or storage.

You'll need to store luggage at the Rome Termini Train Station instead, which is the main train station of Rome.

LUGGAGE DELIVERY SERVICES

Luggage delivery services have become another trend - they're helpful if you want to not worry about your bags at all.

The company will pick up your bags from your door and ensure check-in at the airport, or bring them to your accommodations from the airport.


Bags-Free

Bags-Free is the largest company in the city of Rome providing this service.

The pricing starts at €5 per bag/suitcase/backpack for one-day luggage storage near Rome Termini or €15 per bag to transport them between where you are staying and the airport.  

This method of transporting bags is perfect if you have a long layover and don't want to deal with the hassle or logistics of juggling your luggage.


STORAGE CENTERS

If you prefer, you can use traditional storage centers.

All you need to do is walk up to the storage facility, drop off your bag, and pay a fixed rate per piece of luggage.

These facilities are becoming less used in the wake of companies like Stasher becoming more popular.

However, these tend to be better long-term storage options.


Stow Your Bags

Stow Your Bags have storage lockers that are available for a per-locker fee with facilities near Rome Termini Station, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza di Spagna, Vatican Museums, and other popular neighborhoods.

They have video surveillance at all locations.


Lock & Stock

This luggage storage facility is in Trastevere and allows you to store your bags for a few hours or for a few weeks.

They're open 7 days a week between 6:00 a.m. and 00:00 (midnight). They have video surveillance 24/7.
