This post provides several options for luggage storage in and around the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, including a car service that will pick-up, store, and drop-off your bags.
Is There Luggage Storage at the Port Authority?
Unfortunately, the Port Authority Bus Terminal does not have any luggage storage options nor lockers.
While they used to exist before the events of 9/11, increased security measures required that all on-site luggage storage was removed from all the major stations and terminals in New York City.
If you are traveling with Greyhound, you should be able to store at least one bag for free at their left luggage service.
Additional bags will cost $15. Contact Greyhound to confirm.
Luggage Storage Sharing
With the advent of services like Airbnb, an entirely new type of luggage storage has hit the market.
This service will connect you with a nearby location (convenience stores, hotels, gift shops, etc) where they have space available to hold and secure your luggage.
Everything you choose to store will be insured to protect you from the unlikely event of theft or damage.
Click on the map to search for locations or to book.

While some of the standard luggage storage services in the area will charge $10 or more to store items for 24 hours, Vertoe's prices start at $5.95 per day.
Visit their website for more information and/or check out their competitors.
My Bag Check
As we mentioned before, Vertoe has a mobile app that you can use to find the best nearby storage options.
That being said, there is another company to consider when it comes to mobile storage: My Bag Check.
This service operates a bit more like Uber, as a driver will come by and pick up anything you want to store and deliver it wherever you want.
If this sounds like an excellent option, take a look at the My Bag Check website and get a closer look at how it all works.

While this is a tour bus, it provides stops at all of the major landmarks in NYC and you will have the option to jump off wherever you like.
Most hop-on-hop-off companies offer a 24-hour ticket, so there's no need to worry about paying for more service than you're going to use.

Most passes include admission to sites such as Madame Tussauds, Top of the Rock, Radio City Music Hall, and more in addition to a free hop-on-hop-off bus tour.
If you've got enough time for even 2-3 attractions, this could be a great way to save money while you're in New York City.
