(1) Sightseeing Tours

Taking a tour of Prague at night is the perfect way to see the city! You’ll get a magical view of the lights at night and deal with less crowding.

(2) Enjoy Prague’s Music Scene

Love music and culture? Prague is the perfect destination for you!

Prague’s National Theatre is housed in a beautiful venue and regularly puts on ballets, operas, and theatre performances.

More classical performances can be found at the Wallenstein Gardens between May and September.  

And if you’re in the area of Charles Bridge, there are multiple jazz and blues clubs nearby, such as Jazz Republic, that have concerts almost every night of the week.

Don't forget to take a look at the O2 Arena in Prague, where big-name performers come through like Billie Eilish, Ariana Grandey Michael Buble.

If you can’t make a planned concert, many street performers and buskers have impromptu performances on Charles Bridge year-round.


(3) Museum of Alchemists

There aren’t many museums open past 6:00 pm.

Luckily, this museum of interesting and strange artifacts, the Museum of Alchemists and Magicians of Old Prague, is open until 8:00 pm!

They are located right next to Prague Castle and house instruments that alchemists would use to attempt to turn metals into gold.

The practice has long since stopped, but now you get to look at the secret laboratories and equipment.

Prague Travel Tips

(4) Enjoy Czech Food

Czech food is hearty and comforting. While you’re in Prague, there are several traditional dishes you definitely need to try.

Vepro knedlo zelo, or roasted pork, is a staple of the cuisine. It is often served with dumplings and pickled cabbage.

Cesnecka, or garlic soup, is also very popular.

It has a raw egg added during the last few minutes of preparation to let the soup cook and is topped with lots of croutons.

You can try these dishes and find others at local Prague restaurants, some of which are listed under our recommended dining options.

Alternatively, you could also take a Prague food tour to learn more about these dishes and try them out for yourself.


(5) Pub Crawl

For those over the drinking age, the Drunken Monkey Pub Crawl is one of the most popular pub crawls in the city.

They've been featured on National Geographic and voted the best crawl in the city for over 10 years.

The pub crawl runs every night of the year and features a 2-hour open bar.

They have games like flip cup and giant Jenga and offer a free t-shirt or headband with your entry fee.


(6) Sporting Events

If you’re in Prague during ice hockey season, it is a perfect opportunity to spend the evening at a game.

Their hockey league is very popular - in fact, quite a few of their players can get recruited to the US National Hockey League.

(7) Play in the Parks

Looking for a place to get all the kids’ energy out?

The whole family can enjoy the various playgrounds and parks available in Prague.

  • The Franciscan Monastery close to Wenceslas Square has a fenced-in playground that has a fun sandbox and playset in a quiet setting.
  • Certovka is a small but popular park at the end of Charles Bridge with playground equipment and a sandpit for digging.
  • Children’s Island is in the middle of the Vltava River and is accessible by a bridge near Smichov. The playground is large and fenced in with climbing nets, sandboxes, and other structures to play in and on.

(8) Prague Zoo Evening Tours

This fun evening tour of the Prague Zoo gives you some insight into the different habitats and animals. You’ll also have the zoo mostly to yourself!

They often run on Friday & Saturday nights at 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm. The 5:30 pm tour guides cater to children and have a high-energy tour planned.

If there are no kids in your group, you might want to stick with the 6:00 pm tours. You’ll still get the same great information with a little less theatrics.

(9) Find Panoramic Views

Want to get a bird’s eye view of Prague at night? One of the best places to see the city from up above is Prague Castle.

There is a half wall at the edge of the cliffside in the Prague Castle Starbucks.

Just walk on in and look over the wall for the best views of the city!

There are other great spots within the castle if you want to go exploring for them.

If you want to see Prague from the Petrin Observation Tower, it is on the same side as the Vltava River. You can take a hike up the main hill of the park, or get a ride on the funicular!

This game tasks you with solving a mystery, and it's available until 23:30 (11:30 pm) at night, which makes it a perfect activity for the evening.

Astronomical Clock

One of the most popular, free things to see in Prague is the Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Hall Tower.

It was built during the 15th century and has been maintained since then, which included rebuilding after damage during WWII.

You might have a better chance at getting an up-close look at the parade of the 12 Apostles if you watch the free, hourly show at night!


Summertime Outdoor Movies

MeetFactory is an art space with a large yard. The yard is perfect for outdoor movie screenings and has drinks available for purchase.

Movies are on the schedule from May 30 through the end of September, with start times between 8:30 and 9:30 pm.

More movies are offered throughout the summer by Cross Club on Wednesdays and the Seasonal Cultural Center on Mondays and Thursdays.


Art Installations Walk

Make your walk through the city a scavenger hunt!

As you take an audio tour or another walk, keep an eye out for the city’s multitude of bizarre art installations.

The giant bronze babies are right near the Kampa Museum.

And don’t forget to look up - you might see Sigmund Freud or someone being swept away by an umbrella.


Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge is the oldest bridge in Prague and is still a very popular pedestrian crossing.

Up and down the wide, sandstone street there are often buskers and other performers working for tips.

At night, there are slightly fewer people and you can see a fantastic view of the city lit up at night.  


Prague Castle

Access to the gardens and grounds surrounding Prague Castle is free all day, but if you wait until after 5:00 pm you can get into the Golden Lane without a ticket!

Between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm every day, you can watch the Changing of the Guards ceremony.

During the summer, you might stumble across open-air concerts by brass or jazz bands.


Find Panoramic Views

Go to Petrin Hill Park as the sun is setting for some of the best views in Prague.

The Hill is 318 meters (1043 feet) high - which is a moderately strenuous climb to the top of the hill.

There, you can find an impressive view of the city. For a small fee, you can get even higher - and go all the way to the top of the tower.

Tip: If you don’t want to walk to the top, there is an affordable funicular to give you a ride!

Prague Castle Tour

Prague Castle is very popular and a bit crowded during the day.

However, after the sun goes down, the crowds thin out, and you can see the lit-up castle in all its glory!

We suggest taking a nighttime castle tour with a tram ride included that the kids will love.

The Ghosts and Legends of Prague tour are full of fun, spooky stories.

Your guide will entertain you with historical ghost tales on this 1.5-hour walking tour. This one is fun for everyone!


Rent a Pedal Boat on the Vltava River

If you’ve been walking all over Prague and are ready for a bit of a rest, rent a boat and on the Vltava!

The kids can pedal down the river as you admire the reflection of the city lights on the water.

Boats are available to rent by the hour until 10:00 pm.


Prague Zoo Tour

This fun evening tour of the Prague Zoo gives you some insight into the different habitats and animals.

You’ll also have the zoo mostly to yourself!

Underground Tunnels Tour

The tour of the underground tunnels is perfect for older kids and takes you through hidden cellars, and spooky spaces in Old Town’s underground network.

Wintertime Skating

You can find a free, outdoor ice skating rink from December to February at Ovocny Trh.

Skaters can get on the ice with their rented skates between 10:00 am - 9:30 pm every day.


RESTAURANTS AND FOOD

Looking to enjoy some traditional Czech food? There is no shortage of it in Prague!

Maják Family Restaurant

Traditional Czech food is what you’ll find at the Majak Family Restaurant.

Situated in a lovely and peaceful dining room, you’ll get to taste the chef’s fresh, local dishes. They also have a great children’s menu!  


Find a Local Pub for Drinks

Look for a pub that is slightly off the beaten path. You’ll know you’re in the right place when the crowds thin out!

Here, you can buy a pint of beer for only €1.50 and find some delicious, local food to go with it, without breaking the bank.


Krčma

This small restaurant is a local hidden gem. They have plenty of traditional dishes on the menu and serve them up at local prices in a cozy dining room.

We suggest reserving a table in advance, as they get busy at night.


Kuchyň

If you’re near Prague Castle, this restaurant is a great option. They don’t offer a menu - instead, you get to look at what is on the stove and decide that way!

There is also a great view of the castle and the city from the dining area.


Bibimbap Korea

Looking for something different?

Prague has a thriving Asian population, which means you can find authentic Korean kimchi here! The signature dish is bibimbap - a spicy rice dish.


Taste a Trdelnik Pastry

This traditional sweet pastry is very popular with visitors and can be found in coffee shops and street vendors.

The rolled dough is wrapped around a cylinder and baked over a spit.

The pastry is coated in cinnamon sugar and then topped with various sweet treats - you can even ask or ice cream to be put in the middle!


MUSEUMS AND ATTRACTIONS

These are the museums and attractions that are open late in Prague!

You’ll find animals, art, and interesting artifacts.


Prague Aquarium

Sea World Prague is an aquarium that offers a look into underwater ecosystems. Visitors can watch feeding demonstrations and touch pools.

SeaWorld is open until 7:00 pm on weekends.


Golem VR

This virtual reality experience is the largest VR gaming experience in Europe.

You and up to 4 other people can be transported back in time to Prague during medieval times.

There are mini-games and riddles to solve as you go through the game to find the mystical Golem.


Prague Planetarium

Get a better understanding of the universe with the projection show at the Prague Planetarium.

Kids will love sitting back and seeing the stars zoom around on the ceiling as they learn about the solar system.


Prague Zoo

Animal lovers of all ages will love the Prague Zoological Garden.

Their goal is to protect wildlife and educate visitors on taking care of the environment and its inhabitants.

The only way to see the Zoo in the evenings is to take an evening tour.
