How Is the Weather in Barcelona in March?

Barcelona in March provides mostly sunny dry weather with cool to mild afternoons but cold nights.


Temperatures

Daytime high temperatures during March generally range from about 14 C (upper 50s F) early in the month to near 17 C (low 60s F) by the end of the month.

A few of the warmer afternoons, especially later in the month, can reach temperatures around 20 C (about 68 F).

The record high temperature in Barcelona during March is 25 C (77 F).

Late night and early morning low temperatures will be around 4 C (43 F) early in March but warming closer to 8C (47 F) near the end of the month. 

A few of the colder mornings, especially early in the month, can dip down to around 1-2 C (mid-30s F). 

The record low temperature for Barcelona during March is -1 C (30 F).


Clouds and Rain

About 16-17 days this month will see either sunny or at least partly sunny skies allowing you a wonderful opportunity to explore the city.

Rain occurs only on 4 or 5 days in March, and mostly will be light. 

Snow is exceedingly rare and when it does occur it will be in the higher inland elevations. 

In March of 2010, a heavy snowfall of up to 1 meter was reported in the nearby Pyrenees Mountains.


Windspeed

The wind in Barcelona during March tends to be mostly light to gentle at 4-12 mph/6-19 kph but occasionally can be moderate at 13-18 mph/20-28 kph.


Daylight

The shortest day of the month is March1st with about 11.3 hours of daylight, increasing to 12.7 hours by March 31st.


Ocean and Beach

The ocean temperatures this month remain cold with water temperatures averaging around 13C-14 C (mid-50s F) so a day at the beach may not be a good option.


What to Wear in Barcelona in March

March in Barcelona tends to be cool to mild so Spring attire will work best this month, however, there can be several cold days, especially early in the month. 

We recommend long-sleeved shirts and tops, as well as a couple of sweaters plus a medium-weight coat or jacket for the colder nights and mornings and don’t forget some comfortable walking shoes!


Things to Do in Barcelona in March

With the weather getting better and plenty of great sunshine, this would be a great time to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Barcelona.

You might also want to consider going on a cruise around the city to see the skyline!

Alternatively, if you're looking for a fun family activity, you could head to the Barcelona Zoo to see a variety of over 4,000 animals.
