Temperatures
Daytime high temperatures tend to be around 9 C (about 48 F) early in the month, warming slowly to about 11 C (about 52 F) near the month’s end.
A few of the warmer afternoons, especially near the end of this month will warm up to about 14-15 C (upper 50s F).
The record high temperature in Dublin during March is 17.2 C (63.0 F).
Late Night and early morning low temperatures tend to be near 3-4 C (upper-30s F) but on about 3 days this month the low can dip to 0 C (32 F) or just below.
The record low temperature is -7.9 C (17.2 F).
How Much Rain?
About 12 days, on average, will feature sunny or at least partly sunny skies.
Precipitation occurs in some form on 15-17 days, however, only 3 days will record rainfalls of 5 mm (0.2 inches) or more.
Some snow can occur on 2-3 days, however accumulations of 2.5 cm (1 inch) or greater occur only about once every decade.
Daylight
March sees a rapid increase in daylight hours from about 10.8 hours on the 1st to nearly 13 hours by the 31st.
Windspeed
Wind speeds during March will mostly be moderate at 13-18 mph/20-28 kph but occasionally will freshen to 19-24 mph/29-38 kph.
Ocean Temperatures
Dublin lies along the western edge of the Irish Sea which during February is very cold with water temperatures averaging near 7-8 C (about 46-47 F).
What to Wear in Dublin in March?
March in Dublin is cold so bring along winter attire including jeans or other heavy trousers.
Also include long sleeve tops and shirts, hoodies, and a warm and preferably waterproof coat.
A couple of scarves, some gloves and warm socks will also help. Don’t forget some good walking shoes or boots.
Things to Do in Dublin in March
If you manage to visit during a sunny day, you might want to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Dublin.
This is also the month when Dublin celebrates St. Patrick's Day, and they will have several fun activities to enjoy on March 17th.
If the weather isn't very nice when you come to town, consider going to a concert or perhaps seeing some live stand-up instead.
