Which Florence City Pass is Best?

BOOK MY TOUR!
Updated: December 13, 2023

Our tour guides are always getting asked about the best way to save money on popular attractions in Florence, and sometimes the subject of tourist passes will come up as well.

We've compiled a bunch of the most helpful information our guides have to offer about these passes in the post below.

In addition to that, you can also take a look at some of the most helpful advice we found on various Facebook groups including our own.

We’ll also include details about how much money you can save, which activities are offered by each pass, and how to use each service.

OVERVIEW

Tourist attraction passes provide discounts on a variety of different activities, museums, tours, day trips, and more.

Some passes include jump-the-line entry at certain locations, allowing you to save both time and money.

Here are a few of the more popular attractions included with most Florence tourist passes:

  • Uffizi Gallery
  • Accademia Gallery
  • Brunelleschi's Dome
  • Mario Marini Museum
  • Casa Martelli Museum
  • Jewish Museum & Synagogue
  • National Archaeological Museum
  • Guided Florence Bike Tour
  • Florence Walking Tour
  • Pisa Walking Tour

This is just a handful of the activities you can expect to save money on with a visitor pass in this city.

Each service has its own unique advantages that aren’t included in other passes.

Depending on which pass you choose, you could save anywhere from 10% - 50% or more off general entry prices.

For more details, check out our before you buy section below.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Although these visitor passes can be a great way to save money on popular sites, it’s important to consider how you’ll be spending your time in Florence before picking a pass.

This section will provide details about how each type of pass works and the best way to use them.

All-Inclusive

This type of pass includes entry to dozens of different attractions for a specific amount of time (1, 2, or 3 days).

Rather than paying for individual tickets, you’ll pay one flat price for access to a variety of activities that you can enjoy while your pass is valid.

The best way to take advantage of this pass is to use it for the most expensive attractions included and enjoy as many of them as possible.

Typically, you’ll need to use this service at least 4-5 times per day in order to save a decent amount of money.

That said, if you use it effectively, you can save 50% or more with an all-inclusive pass.

These services also include skip-the-line admission at certain popular locations, which means you won’t have to wait in line to get a ticket and take a look inside!

You can also use an all-inclusive pass for additional concessions on day trips, wine tours and more.

Museum Pass

This service focuses primarily on museums, national monuments, and other historic locations, and it actually includes admission to more sites than any other Florence visitor pass.

The pass is active for 3 full days, giving you plenty of time to explore the city at your own leisure and enjoy as many sites as possible.

Like their competitors, you’ll pay one flat price for everything.

This photo of the University of Florence Natural History Museum is courtesy of TripAdvisor.

It’s important to note that most people won’t actually be able to enjoy everything included with the pass simply because there are so many different locations to visit.

Another issue is that this pass does not include any tours, so if you want to take a tour or day trip, you might want to consider another service.

That said, the Museum Pass includes a lot of sites that aren’t on any other pass, and they offer free admission to any family members joining you who are 18 or under.

If you’re going to Florence with your family, it’s nice to know that you won’t need to buy any additional pass for your kids!

This pass can be purchased with an additional travel card which will allow you to hop on and off public transport lines throughout the city for 3 full days, making it easy to get from one museum to the next.

Prepackaged Pass

Unlike other passes, this type of service provides a few specific activities and offers a flat discount of 20% off all additional sites or excursions.

You’ll pay one flat price for the pass, but anything not prepackaged will simply be discounted.

This is currently the only pass in Florence to provide a hop-on, hop-off bus tour, so if you’re interested in that service, you may want to consider this option.

In addition to admission to two popular sites, the prepackaged pass also provides an airport transfer that will take you to the city.

The best part about this pass is that there is no time limit, so you don’t have to worry about using it for as many different attractions as possible while it’s valid.

Another advantage to this pass is that a lot of the activities included with the 20% discount are not available with any other service, making this one of the only ways to save money on those attractions.

While this is a good deal even if you don’t use the additional discounts, that’s really what sets the prepackaged pass apart from others.

Combo Packages

If you can’t find a tourist pass you like, there are always combo deals you can buy to save money on various activities.

These packages typically include at least one walking tour or bus tour, and they might also include admission to a popular attraction.

This photo of Caffetteria Bartolini is courtesy of TripAdvisor.

Although you won’t save a lot of money with this option, you can expect a discount of at least 10% - 20% off the usual ticket prices.

While a visitor pass will typically include discounted admission to dozens of attractions, a combo package usually only includes 2-3 activities at most.

ALL-INCLUSIVE PASS

The following section will provide details about the all-inclusive tourist pass available in Florence.

We’ll include information about how much it costs, which sites are included and how to save money with the service.

In Florence, Italy, the all-inclusive pass provides access to several significant sites.

Visitors can explore the architecture of the Florence Cathedral and delve into art at the Galleria dell'Accademia, where works by renowned artists like Michelangelo and Botticelli are housed.

The pass also covers entry to historical places like Santa Croce and offers insights through an audio guide app.

It's a convenient way to ensure a comprehensive experience of the city's Renaissance heritage without the hassle of multiple bookings.

Florence Turbopass

With more than a dozen activities included, this tourist pass is perfect for anyone who wants an introduction to the city of Florence.

In addition to covering entry to several popular museums, sites, and tours, this pass also includes additional discounts on a variety of tours, day trips, and other fun things to do.

Firenze City Pass Turbopass

One of the best things about the Turbopass is that it includes skip-the-line admission to some of the most popular museums in the city, allowing you to save time by avoiding the ticket line!

This pass can be bought for either 1, 2, or 3 days in a row.

The longer you have it, the easier it will be to enjoy all of the benefits included. You’ll also pay less per day by buying either a 2 or 3-day pass.

Here are some of the most popular attractions included with the Florence Turbopass:

  • Uffizi Gallery (skip-the-line) | €24

While this pass is a good deal even if you just use it for the included activities, you’ll enjoy the most savings by using it for the additional discounted day trips and tours.

The main issue with the Florence Turbopass is that you really have to use it for as many attractions as possible in order to save some money.

If you’re interested in seeing each of the museums and other locations included with this pass and you don’t mind spending 3 consecutive days darting around the city to visit them all, this is a great discount opportunity.

Although it is recommended to purchase a travel card to get around the city, this service is not included with the Turbopass.

MUSEUM PASS

In this section, we’ll cover all the details you need to know about the Florence museum pass, including how to use the pass, which attractions are provided and the price of the service.

Firenze Card

If you’re looking for a pass that will cover a lot of different museums and attractions, this service provides admission to more sites than any other tourist pass in Florence.

The Firenze Card is valid for a total of 3 days, giving you plenty of time to explore the city and see as much as possible with the pass.

Visitors with this card will receive priority access (skip-the-line) to each museum included with the exception of the Grande Museo del Duomo Complex.

While you will need to make reservations at a few locations to get priority access, most sites will let you skip the ticket queue simply by showing your Firenze Card.

Best of all, this tourist pass includes free admission for all family members under the age of 18.

If you’re a parent with kids, this is an invaluable resource that ensures you won’t have to buy any additional passes or tickets!

Aside from the attractions, this tourist pass also provides discounts on a variety of services including tours, restaurants, shopping, entertainment and more.

Deals range from 10% - 40% off.

In addition to their main pass, this company also provides what they call the Firenze Card +, which will give you access to the city’s public transportation for 3 full days – including buses, trams, and ATAF.

Here are some of the most popular attractions and museums included with the Firenze Card:

  • Uffizi Gallery | €17
  • Accademia Gallery | €17
  • National Archaeological Museum | €8
  • Jewish Museum & Synagogue | €6.50
  • Brunelleschi's Dome | €18
  • Brancacci Chapel | €10
  • Palazzo Vecchio Museum | €4
  • Santa Maria Novella | €7.50
  • Palazzo Medici Riccardi | €7
  • Medici Chapels | €9

  • Dante’s House | €4
  • Laurentian Library | €3
  • Basilica of San Lorenzo | €8
  • And many more!

Prices

  • Firenze Card: €85 per person
  • Firenze Card + (travel card): €7

Buy the Firenze Card or learn more.

In total, this tourist pass currently provides admission to 78 different museums and attractions in Florence, making it the most extensive discount card in the city.

That said, it should be noted that the Firenze Card does not include any tours and you have to buy a travel card separately, so you won’t save much money on transportation.

Thankfully, one of the discounts they offer is on City Sightseeing bus tours, allowing you to save 10% off general admission!

Similar to the all-inclusive pass, it will be important to use the Firenze Card for as many attractions as possible while it is valid in order to get the biggest possible discount.

The more locations you visit with this pass, the more money you’ll end up saving on entry costs – and it’s not difficult to do since there are so many different attractions to choose from!

Note: Firenze Card is currently available as of December 2023.

PREPACKAGED PASS

This section provides information about the prepackaged pass, including details about which activities they offer, how you can use this service to save money and what it costs.

The Florence Pass

While every other pass is only valid for a few days at most, this is the only one that has no time limit, allowing you to explore the city at your own leisure.

The Florence City Pass is the only pass that includes a hop on hop off bus tour (€23) and a 2-way airport transfer (€10), making transportation around the city much easier.

In addition to those services, you’ll also receive admission to the following popular sites:

  • Uffizi Gallery (skip-the-line) | €17
  • Accademia Gallery (skip-the-line) | €17
  • Brunelleschi's Dome (skip-the-line) | €18
  • Florence Audio Guide | €7.50

Aside from these attractions and activities, the Florence City Pass also provides an across the board 10% discount on a variety of additional tours, day trips, restaurants and more.

These additional concessions are where the pass really shines, as there are some services included that aren’t available on any other tourist pass.

Here are a few examples of activities with a 10% discount:

  • Pisa Day Trip
  • Palazzo Vecchio
  • Bargello Museum
  • Museo di San Marco
  • Franco Zeffirelli Museum
  • Pisa Hop on Hop off Bus Tour
  • Palazzo Pitti & Palatine Gallery
  • Florence Rafting Excursion
  • Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tours
  • And more!

Prices

  • €105/Adults (18+)
  • Kids 6 and under are free
  • 10% off with coupon code FTOUR10

Buy the Florence City Pass or learn more.

If you look at the individual price of every activity and attraction included, it’s clear that if you actually want to save any money with this pass, it will be necessary to take advantage of their additional services for 10% off.

This is an especially good deal if you want to take a day trip to Pisa, Venice or Rome, as each of these activities are included at a concession.

That said, if you have no interest in the additional concessions, the Florence City Pass is not worth it for the guaranteed services alone. Please keep that in mind before making a buy.

Florence City Pass

This is a somewhat interesting prepackaged pass, because it is technically offered more like an all-inclusive pass with a set number of days in which you can use it.

What separates this tourist pass from an all-inclusive service is that it only includes a specific set number of attractions.

Their 1 day pass covers the cost of the Uffizi Gallery and The Dome of Santa Maria del Fiore. You can also get a version of the 1 day pass that includes entry to the Accademia Gallery.

Alternatively, if you want more time to see as much as possible, you can get their 5 day pass which provides admission to the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, Boboli Gardens, The Dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, and the Accademia Gallery.

Each of the tickets allows you to skip-the-line, and provides access to an audio guide.

Prices

  • 1-Day Pass w/ Uffizi Gallery and Brunelleschi's Dome:
    • €89 per person
  • 1-Day Pass w/ Uffizi Gallery, Brunelleschi's Dome, and Accademia Gallery:
    • €119 per person
  • 5-Day Pass w/ Uffizi Gallery, Brunelleschi's Dome, Accademia Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, and Boboli Gardens
    • €145/Adults | €65/Children

Not currently available as of December 2023.

Although this is an interesting option, it's worth noting that you'll probably save more money with one of the other Florence tourist passes on our list.

That said, if you're just looking for a pass that includes all the attractions you want to visit with skip-the-line privileges and audio guides, this is an excellent option worth considering.

This is really a must for anyone who wants to visit Brunelleschi's Dome, as tickets for that attraction can be quite costly (€47 on average).

When you factor in the cost of the other activities included with this pass, the price is actually very good.

Uffizi + Accademia Pass

Much like the Florence City Pass, this service also includes entry to both the Uffizi Gallery and Accademia Gallery.

In addition to those attractions, you'll also receive a Florence audio guide which provides useful tips and details about various historic locations you might want to visit throughout the city.

This tourist pass also includes a 10% discount on a multitude of other attractions and activities, including the following:

  • Palazzo Vecchio
  • Bargello Museum
  • Palazzo Pitti & Palatine Gallery
  • Florence Rafting Excursion
  • Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tours
  • Brunelleschi's Dome
  • And more!

Prices

  • €59 per person
  • €1 for Youth w/ Adult
  • 10% off with coupon code FTOUR10

Buy this tourist pass or learn more.

Although it doesn't include entry to Brunelleschi's Dome, it's easy to see how the price of this pass beats some competitors by a wide margin.

Even if you wanted to visit Brunelleschi's Dome as well, you could still save an extra 10% off that attraction with this pass.

That said, anyone who is mostly interested in the arts will likely find this pass more than sufficient.

Tips From Locals and Travelers

When it comes to discount passes, travelers can be pretty opinionated, and it's very useful to see what they have to say when you're not sure whether or not to use one of these services.

Luckily, there are a lot of interesting Facebook groups like Florence & Tuscany Travel Tips and our own Rome Travel Tips group, and sometimes users will make very helpful suggestions.

Here are a few of the better recommendations from locals and travelers who use these groups.

While some attractions on these tourist passes don't need to be pre-booked, others do require you to book your ticket ahead of time.

In these cases, you'll often be able to book your time using the website or app for the discount pass.

That said, it can sometimes be difficult to decide when to purchase the pass in order to make sure you can actually book your ticket for a time that fits your schedule.

Danielle asks a very poignant question that does reveal one of the problems with tourist passes. Sometimes it's not entirely clear what counts as activating the pass.

In most cases, the pass won't activate until you actually arrive to the location and use the pass, so you should be able to book your time slot well ahead of time without fear.

Even so, Mark makes a good point in suggesting to check with the operator of the pass before making any assumptions.

Jill has perhaps the most useful advice of all, noting that while she found that the Firenze Card was worth it for her plans, it's important to do some research first.

While these discount cards can save you a lot of money, they might not be as useful if you're not planning to see a lot of the attractions inlcuded.

Another user notes that sometimes you'll still have to wait in line just to redeem the tickets included with your pass, so it might not be worth it if you're just buying a pass to skip the line.

However, other travelers found the Firenze Card very useful, noting that if you use it during the shoulder periods, chances are there won't be as many crowds and you won't have to worry as much about making reservations.

For even more helpful advice, make sure to check the Florence & Tuscany Travel Tips group on Facebook and perhaps ask their users a question!
