WHY CHOOSE THE EDGE OBSERVATION DECK?

With so many different observation decks in New York City, you might wonder what exactly makes Edge better than all the rest.

Truth be told, we like all of them, but there are elements of Edge that make it unique from all the other decks in the city.

Here are a few reasons you might want to consider Edge over another similar attraction.

Glass Floor

One thing Edge has that is unique among all the observation decks in New York City is its glass floor.

This might actually be a turn-off for some visitors, but luckily this feature only takes up a small portion of the overall deck, so you don't have to walk over it or look down.

That said, if you're interested in the thrill, this is an excellent chance to get a look at NYC from over 1,000 feet above the street!

Tickets Include Discounts

Each Edge ticket can be used for additional discounts at the shops and restaurants of Hudson Yards.

Even if you're not planning to do much shopping, there are a few deals that allow you to get a free chocolate bar or brownie just for making one small purchase.

If you're looking for a snack either before or after your visit to this observation deck, these discounts could save you a bit of money while you're grabbing a bite to eat.

Great Views of Other Notable Buildings

In addition to the elements that make this observation deck unique, you can also expect excellent views of famous sites like the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Chrysler Building.

You can also see the Statue of Liberty and Central Park, and if your eyes are good enough you can even see parts of New Jersey!

Visit the Vessel

Also located at Hudson Yards, this attraction is an interesting monument designed by Thomas Heatherwick Studio.

Unlike other monuments in New York City, this is one you can climb.

There are actually around 2,500 individual steps up the tower and 80 different landings.

Best of all, they actually offer free tickets to this attraction, so you might get the chance to visit without paying a dime!

Find out more on our post covering The Vessel.

CITY CLIMB TICKETS

For an incredible aerial adventure, head to City Climb and embark on the highest external building climb in the world!

During the City Climb experience, you’ll scale the side of 30 Hudson Yards, a nearly 1,300 feet tall skyscraper.

When you get to the top you can lean out from the outdoor skydeck on the Edge!

First, the staff will give you a safety briefing.

Then you will be fitted with a specially-designed safety harness and strapped into the climbing course and attached via cables to The Rail, a trolley that moves with you through your ascent.

Then you will traverse 32 steps to The Cliff, where you can look down at the city from 1,190 feet above!

Next, you will climb to The Stair, traveling up 161 steps on an approximately 45-degree incline.

Once you reach the highest point, The Apex, at 1,271 feet high, you will have the chance to lean out and hang over the platform! This is not for the faint of heart!

The City Climb experience is available seven days a week from 9:45 am to 8 pm. The entire experience will take you approximately 1.5 - 2 hours.
