1. Catch a Concert

2. Go to a Game!

Baseball in June is in full swing! The Philadelphia Phillies are playing multiple home games this month.

3.  Experience Freestyle Love Supreme

The Merriam Theatre is currently planning to host the hit hip-hop improv musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda called Freestyle Love Supreme. This troupe asks the audience for topics, and then they pick a few as inspiration to create a unique hip-hop musical every night.

Fans might recall that Lin-Manuel Miranda was also responsible for another big musical hit, Hamilton. He has also since worked on a lot of films such as In The Heights, Mary Poppins Returns, Encantoy Moana.

This musical event will be taking place between June 7th - 12th, 2022.

4. Go to a Stand-up Comedy Performance

There will be several noteworthy stand-up comedians performing in and around Philadelphia this June. If you're in need of a good laugh, this could be a great idea for a fun nighttime activity.

7. Go to the Odunde Festival

On Sunday, June 12th, the largest African-American street festival on the east coast takes place along South Street.

The Odunde Festival covers 15-city blocks and attracts internationally known African and Caribbean performers, folk artists, and dignitaries.

There will be two stages of live entertainment. You can browse over 100 arts & craft stalls and food vendors.

9. Commemorate Juneteenth

Juneteetnth is the day that marks African Americans’ emancipation from slavery in 1865.

Philadelphia commemorates this historic event on Saturday, June 19th, 2022, with the Juneteenth Musicfest and Parade.

There are historic reenactments, live music, a cultural market, an African children’s village for the kids to play in and of course, the culminating event, the parade.

10. Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival

From June 21st - August 7th, you can attend the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square.

The square will be lit with hand-crafted lanterns strung with thousands of LED lights.

This festival celebrates Chinese lantern artisans in the Philly area and is expected to bring in 90,000 visitors from all around the world.

After seeing the lanterns, be sure to visit the Dragon Beer Garden. It is open nightly during the festival and offers a variety of drinks and food for the whole family.

11. Go to Wawa Welcome America 

This Wawa Welcome America festival takes place over several days from June 19th - July 4th, and has more than 50 free events including concerts, block parties, free museum days, and much more.

If you aren't in town during these dates but would like to save money on museum entry from Philadelphia's top museums see what discounts are available at these museums:

• Rodin Museum - free, suggested donation every day
• Wagner Free Institute of Science - free, suggested donation every day
• Philadelphia Museum of Art - free, suggested donation on the first Sunday of every month and every Wednesday after 5 pm.

12. Experience the Music of Star Wars From The Philly Pops

This June, the Philly Pops will be performing the wonderful music of John Williams during their show Star Wars: A Galaxy of Music.

Throughout the performance, you can expect to hear a lot of classic tunes from all of the Star Wars films, including favorites such as Duel of the Fates, Imperial March, and of course the Main Theme.

Guests are invited to dress up ad their favorite character and celebrate this beloved science fiction film franchise in style.

This event will be taking place from June 17th - 19th, 2022.

CANCELLED: LGBT Pride Parade and Festival

The annual LGBT Pride Parade and Festival takes place every year in June.

The parade starts at 11 am in the 'Gayborhood' (Locust Street between 12th and 13th streets). It then marches through Midtown Village and Old City.

The parade concludes at Penn’s Landing at approximately 1 pm where there is a festival.

The festival grounds open up at 12 pm. There'll be music, dancing, food trucks and other activities that are fun for people of all ages and all persuasions.

NOTE: This was cancelled for 2022, but it will probably be back in 2023.
