Los Angeles Tourist Attraction Discount Passes

This post covers Los Angeles tourist attraction discount passes to help you choose which one may be best for you. These passes could save you lots of time and money.

BEFORE YOU BUY

This post will help you decipher which tourist discount pass is the best for you during your trip to LA.

There are a few to choose from and we’ve broken down the specifics of each pass here to help you compare and choose what will fit your needs the best.

All-Inclusive

If you’re planning on seeing a lot of different things in Los Angeles, this might be the most convenient option.

An all-inclusive tourist pass provides access to several different activities for one flat price.

All inclusive tourist attraction Pass Los Angeles

Rather than paying for individual tickets or for a specific number of attractions, you will pay for access to everything the pass includes for 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 days at a time.

Set Number of Attractions

Visitors who would rather pick and choose the activities they pay for should consider this type of pass instead.

Rather than paying per day of use, you’ll pay one flat price for either 3, 4, 5 or 6 different attractions. This option is valid over 30 days.

Build Your Own Pass

This option will allow you to save 20% off of the retail price when you purchase 2 or more attractions.

The main advantage is that you can choose fewer activities and there are more of them to choose from, but you will need to choose them in advance.

This option is valid over 30 days.

Combo Packages

Like the all-inclusive pass, a combination package will include several different attractions for one flat price.

The main difference between the two services is that a combo deal usually includes far fewer activities and they are usually some of the most popular options like studio tours and theme parks.

You can also expect most of these deals to be valid for at least one month.

SET NUMBER OF ATTRACTIONS PASS

Much like the all-inclusive option, there is only one pass in LA that allows you to pick a set number of attractions and it is the Los Angeles Sightseeing Pass.

Los Angeles Sightseeing Pass

While an all-inclusive pass will require you to pay for dozens of attractions up front, you can be much more selective with this service.

The best thing about this pass is that you can pick attractions at your leisure.

There’s no need to choose activities ahead of time, so you can just wander around Los Angeles and use it at various locations whenever you need it.

Another benefit is that you will have a full year to activate the pass and you can get a full refund for up to 30 days after your purchase if your plans change.

Additionally, you will have a full 30 days to use your pass at your leisure.

That said, it’s worth noting that some activities will require advance reservations, so you may want to plan out at least a few of them ahead of time.

Things to Consider

As you can probably tell, most of the activities included are either Hollywood tours or transportation to and from the bigger theme parks in the area.

That being said, many of those transportation services can cost between $45-$55 per ticket, so this could be a great way to save money in combination with the SoCal Theme Park pass or the CityPASS we mention in some of the sections below.

If you’re more interested in visiting a variety of attractions such as Madame Tussauds, TCL Chinese Theater, or the Grammy Museum, you may want to consider another pass.

However, visitors who want to see the sites and explore Hollywood will definitely have an opportunity to save a lot of money with this service.

Go Los Angeles Explorer Pass

This is an alternative service offered by the Go Los Angeles Card which works the same way as a set number of attractions pass.

Unlike their other options, the Explorer Pass allows you to pay one flat price for a specific amount of activities (3, 4, 5 or 7 attractions).

Depending on which attractions you choose, you could save up to 60% off general admission prices. The more activities you pick, the less you’ll pay for each!

As with their competitors, you can use this pass at your leisure over the course of 30 days and you don’t have to choose your activities ahead of time.

Any pass that hasn’t been activated within 30 days of purchase can be returned for a full refund.

Some attractions may require advance booking, but in most cases you’ll only need to present your Explorer Pass at the ticket booth to get inside.

Attractions Included

  • Hop-on-Hop-off Bus Tour
  • Warner Bros. Studio Tour
  • Six Flags Magic Mountain
  • Knott’s Berry Farm
  • Hollywood Hills Hike
  • Whale Watch in Long Beach
  • Celebrity Homes Tour
  • Aquarium of the Pacific
  • Queen Mary Admission
  • And more!

Prices

  • 3 Attractions: $94/Adults | $79/Children
    • Price per Attraction: $31.33/Adults | $26.33/Children
  • 4 Attractions: $125/Adults | $104/Children

Purchase the Los Angeles Explorer Pass or learn more.

Things to Consider

As you can see, no matter how many attractions you choose, you’ll be paying about $31-$32 (for adults) per activity.

This means that if you want the best deal, you’ll have to pick activities that are usually more expensive.

Thankfully, the Go Los Angeles Explorer Pass includes several attractions that are between $50-$70 on average, so it’s easy to save a lot of money.

The best deal for adults is the 4 attraction pass at $31.25 per activity, but the best deal for kids is the 7 attraction pass at just $24.29 each.

If you’re interested in going to theme parks such as Six Flags and Knott’s Berry Farm, this pass will undoubtedly save you a lot of money on tickets.

However, if you’re more interested in activities like the TCL Chinese Theater tour or the LA Zoo, you’ll probably save more money with either a Build Your Own Pass or All-Inclusive Pass.

Go Los Angeles Build Your Own Pass

If you’re looking for one of the easiest ways to save money on the most possible attractions, this is probably going to be your best option.

This pass can be customized to fit your tastes. You’ll save up to 20% when you add four or more attractions to the card and you have the option to choose from 43 attractions including tours, museums, cruises, and more.

If you buy two tickets, you’ll save 10% on each. Purchasing 3 tickets will earn you 15% off all of them. Finally, four or more activities will be 20% off.

This pass is valid for a total of 30 days, so you can take your time deciding when and where to use it.

One of the best things about the pass is that it’s a great way to save money on attractions that are already quite affordable.

While you might pay $25-$35 per attraction with either an all-inclusive or set number of attractions pass, they wouldn’t save you much of anything on activities that cost less than $20.

As such, we recommend this pass for the following already affordable activities. We’ll include the general admission price along with the price you’ll pay when you build your own pass!

  • TCL Chinese Theater Tour | $18 ($14.40)
  • La Brea Tar Pits | $15 ($12)
  • Natural History Museum | $15 ($12)
  • Hollywood Museum | $15 ($12)
  • Grammy Museum | $15 ($12)
  • Autry Museum of the American West | $14 ($11.20)
  • Battleship IOWA Museum | $20 ($16)
  • Dolby Theater Tour | $25 ($20)
  • LA Zoo | $22 ($17.60)

Purchase your Build Your Own Go Los Angeles Card Here.

Bonus!

With this card, you’re given the option to add attractions from nearby San Diego and Las Vegas giving it even more value if you plan to visit either of those cities during your time on the west coast!

Things to Consider:

While the discount on this card might not be as steep as the others, it still offers some value if you want to visit two or more attractions the Go Card includes on its list but don’t want/need everything that’s included at the higher price.

COMBO PACKAGES

Rather than paying one price for dozens of different activities, these combo packages and passes focus primarily on a certain set of attractions.

This section will include details about prices, services, and any additional information you should think about before purchasing a package.

Go Los Angeles Card

Packaged deals on the Go Los Angeles Card offer a variety of set attractions (think of a pre-set menu) at discounted prices.

With this type of card, you can save up to 40% off gate prices and the card is valid for 30 days after you visit the first attraction. There are seven package deals to choose from that fit well with every type of traveler:

Other Los Angeles Tourist Passes

CityPASS for Southern California (Disneyland!)

This pass allows you to create your own theme park vacation by choosing only the attractions you want to go to. It’s like an a la carte menu. You can buy as many or as few attractions you want.

This pass can save you money because the prices for individual attractions are less than if you were to buy tickets at each attraction at the ticket gate.

Here are the attractions you can purchase:

  • Disneyland® Park and Disney California Adventure® Park (choice of 2, 3, 4 or 5-day ticket)
  • Universal Studios Hollywood™ (choice of 1 or 2-day ticket)
  • LEGOLAND® California Resort (choice of 1 or 2-day ticket)
  • SeaWorld® San Diego
  • San Diego Zoo® OR Safari Park

Prices will vary greatly depending on which attractions you decide to purchase and the number of says you choose to buy.

The savings aren’t enormous, but if the attractions you can choose from are all on your list, hey, why not save some money! It can’t hurt!

Starline Attraction Pass

For those who really want to focus on seeing all that Hollywood has to offer, the Starline Attraction Pass is a good value.

The pass is valid for 1, 2, or 3 days and you have the ability to make reservations to guarantee a spot on the tours that are included in the pass.

In addition to a hop-on-hop-off bus tour for the amount of time you select, you’ll also receive admission to 14 popular attractions in Hollywood.

Finally, to sweeten the deal, they also offer admission to either Universal Studios or Warner Bros. Studios when you purchase a 3-day pass.

As with an All-inclusive pass, the amount you save will depend on the number of activities you choose to enjoy while you have the pass.

Most people will be able to save at least 30% – 50% off general admission prices with the Starline Attraction Pass.

Things to Consider

Due to the fact that it includes either a ticket to Universal Studios or a Warner Bros. Studio Tour, the 3 day pass is much more expensive than every other option.

That being said, if you’re interested in either of those activities, this is a great way to save money on admission, as tickets typically go for between $80-$120.

If you aren’t interested in either Universal Studios or the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, the 2-day pass will be a much better deal at just $66 per day.

The 2 day Starline hop-on-hop-off bus tour is $64 alone, so it’s just a couple bucks more per day to get this pass!

Ultimately, this pass is a great option if you’re interested in a bus tour and a few extra attractions, as it doesn’t require you to get carried away with several activities in order to save some money.
