Which Miami Bus Tours Are Best?

This post covers hop on hop off Miami bus tours as well as other bus tour options, including Key West and Everglades trips as well as available discounts.

Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus Tours

These bus tours will allow you to hop on and off and explore all of the most popular sites in Miami.

While some services give you the opportunity to wander around at your leisure and hop back on whenever you wish, others are kept to a much tighter schedule.

Big Bus Tours

This is one of the most popular hop-on-hop-off bus tour companies in the world, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they offer some of the most extensive routes in Miami.

The operator has over 20 different stops and the buses run very regularly. You can see Coconut Grove and Little Havana’s vibrant community, the entertainment offered by South Beach and more.

Each bus has a live English speaking tour guide, but there is recorded commentary available in 11 different languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, and Hindi.

TIP: you can save 20% on the 1-day hop-on-hop-off tour if you purchase just one other attraction on the Build Your Own Miami Pass or up to 55% off with either the Go Miami Card or the Explorer Pass.

Miami Double Decker

As the name suggests, this tour company offers a double-decker bus. The bus stops at various arrival terminals, allowing guests to come on board and start enjoying the views.

With the advantage of the open-topped double-decker bus, passengers can also enjoy an uninterrupted view of South Beach, the historic Art Deco buildings and a variety of other world famous locations.

NOTE: Unlike other typical hop-on-hop-off bus tours, the Miami Double Decker tour gives you a limited amount of time to hop off at various locations. In order to continue the tour, you will need to get back on the same bus you started with.

Purchase tickets or learn more about Miami Double Decker Bus Tours.

Needless to say, this is definitely the cheapest option for a hop-on-hop-off bus tour.

That being said, it’s not as open-ended as the service offered by their competitors, as you can’t really wander and explore at your own leisure.

You will have the opportunity to jump off at various popular locations in Miami, but with each tour clocking in at 2 hours in length, you won’t have much time to look around.

This is an excellent option if you’re looking for a quick and easy trip around the city which will cover a lot of ground.

However, if you want to use a hop-on-hop-off bus tour as a method to get around town at your own pace, you should consider Big Bus instead.

Miami Sightseeing Bus Tours

These professionally guided bus tours deliver a more personalized experience.

While you usually won’t be allowed to hop off and on at your leisure, live tour guides will provide a lot of interesting details about the city, and some services even offer additional activities.

Miami Tour Company

Miami Tour Company offers a range of different tours that will take you to some very special attractions across Miami and the surrounding area.

These services are a step beyond the average bus tour, providing full excursions that often include boat travel as well.

Their main tour is called Miami to the Max and it includes a lot of amenities such as sunscreen, mosquito spray, bottled water, and even lunch for free!

Miami to the Max!

  • Tickets: $45/Adults | $35/Children
  • Availability: Daily at 10 am
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Includes lunch for free
  • Purchase or learn more.

Even though this isn’t technically a hop-on-hop-off bus, there are actually 5 stops on this bus tour. At each stop, you’ll be given the opportunity to jump off and look around for a bit.

You won’t have the same kind of freedom to explore at your own pace, but at least you can stretch your legs and get a closer look at some of the more notable sites in Miami.

This tour can be combined with a boat cruise, a trip to the Everglades or both for a minimal additional price. If you want to know more about these options, make sure to check our combo package section.

Xcursions USA

This company provides a lot of different services in Miami, including a Miami City Tour which will take you to locations such as Little Havana, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and Millionaire’s Row.

While on this trip, you’ll learn about the history of the city from a professional guide.

As if that weren’t enough, a free boat tour is also included with each ticket. This sightseeing cruise will give you a great view of the Miami skyline and some of the homes of the rich and famous that live in the city.

Miami City Tour + Boat Tour

  • Tickets: $39.99 per person
  • Availability: Daily at 9:20 am & 1:20 pm
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Purchase or learn more.

Unlike their competitors, this bus tour will not make any stops for hopping on and off. That said, the price is definitely fair considering that you get both a bus tour and a boat tour.

You can expect the Miami City Tour to take about 2 – 2 ½ hours, while the cruise will last for approximately 75 minutes.

If you need to cancel your tickets for any reason, they offer full refunds up to 24 hours before the tour takes place.

Key West Day Trips

In addition to the traditional hop-on-hop-off tours and fully guided tours, some bus tour services also offer day trips to Key West.

These outings include transportation to and from the location, but you shouldn’t expect a tour of the area. Instead, you’ll be given some time to enjoy popular activities and attractions in Key West before heading back later in the day.

Miami Double Decker

Along with their hop-on-hop-off bus tour, this company also provides a day trip to Key West.

After traveling across 42 bridges, you’ll arrive at the Key West Mel Fisher Maritime Museum at around 12 pm. At this point, you will have approximately 6 hours to spend in the area seeing whatever sites spark an interest.

If you’re worried about being cooped up on a bus for several hours, fear not: there will be rest stops made on both legs of the trip.

It is recommended to be ready at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Complimentary bottled water will be provided to all customers.

If you need to cancel your ticket for any reason, you can receive a full refund up to 24 hours before the date of the day trip.

Xcursions USA

This company offers several different options for Key West bus tours, but their most affordable package will take you on a one day trip from Miami to Key West and back again.

There are also options to combine this day trip with tickets to popular activities in the area such as snorkeling and a glass bottom boat ride.

You’ll have six hours in Key West before making the voyage back to Miami, giving you plenty of time to uncover all of the many sights and sounds that make this subtropical paradise so wonderful.

Key West Full Day Tour

Key West + Snorkeling

  • Tickets: $105.99 per person
  • Snorkeling excursion includes all necessary gear
  • Snorkeling excursion includes all you can drink soda, beer and wine
  • Purchase or learn more.

Key West + Glass Bottom Boat

If these additional activities aren’t of interest, Xcursions USA also offers Key West combo packages which include attractions such as the Conch Train, a Trolley Tour, and Parasailing.

Unlike their competitors, this company does not provide free bottled water and they recommend bringing some with you. Should you need to cancel your tickets, they can be returned for a refund up to 24 hours before the day trip begins.

Gray Line

This popular tour company offers their own Key West day trip which is much like the other options provided here, in that you can expect to spend at least five hours in Key West between 12 PM and 5 PM.

The tour departs at about 6-7 AM and returns back to Miami at about 9 PM.

It’s worth noting that you can actually get this trip to Key West for free with the purchase of the Go Miami Card

As we mentioned before, this service is actually included for free with the Go Miami Card. Depending on how you use this tourist pass, you could technically get this tour for free. We’ll use the 2-Day Go Miami Card ($109) for example:

Day 1

  • Hop-on-Hop-off Bus Tour | $49
  • Miami Zoo | $23
  • Miami Seaquarium | $47
  • Total Value | $119

Day 2

  • Key West Day Trip | Free

As you can see, the 2-Day Go Miami Card can easily pay for itself in just one day, ensuring that you’ll have the entirety of the next day to enjoy a trip to Key West without paying anything extra.

Keep this in mind when deciding which Key West Day Trip to take, and make sure to read our post about Miami tourist passes for more information about this and other discount opportunities.

Miami Everglades Day Trips

As with the day trips to Key West, you will also find several services providing transportation to and from the Everglades. The main difference to note is that admission to an Everglades tour is usually included with the price of your bus ticket.

This is a great opportunity to see some of the natural wildlife in Florida while experiencing one of the most beautiful places on earth.

NOTE: If you’re looking for additional information about tours and day trips at this popular location, make sure to read our post about which Everglades tour is best.

Miami Double Decker

If you’re interested in visiting the Everglades, this company offers a trip which includes transportation, admission to Everglades Park, an educational wildlife show and an airboat tour.

Visitors will have several opportunities to see alligators – both in the wild and during the wildlife show. You’ll even have the chance to hold a baby alligator!

  • Tickets: $39.99/Adults | $35.99/Children
  • Availability: Daily at 9:30 am & 1:30 pm
  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Purchase or learn more.

The Everglades parks and tours aren’t that far outside of Miami, so it won’t take as long to get there and back as it does for a Key West Day Trip.

As a result, you can expect this excursion to take a half day at most, giving you the opportunity to enjoy even more activities in the city when you get back.

If you need to cancel your tickets for any reason, you can get a refund up to 24 hours before the trip.

You will receive free bottled water onboard, but there is no additional food or beverages included with this service.

Xcursions USA

As you may have guessed, Xcursions USA provides a wide variety of bus tours in and around the Miami area – including one to the Everglades.

Their service is very similar to competitors, with admission to the park included in the price of your ticket for the bus. Every ticket is good for one airboat ride through the Everglades and a wildlife show.

This Everglades day trip is a bit shorter than some of the other services offered by competitors. If you want to avoid spending too much time in the area, this could be a great option.

Customers who need to cancel their trip can receive a refund if they return the tickets at least 24 hours before the outing.

NOTE: This trip is included with a combo ticket offered by Xcursions USA. Check our combo packages section for additional details.
