How Is the Weather in Lisbon in April?

April in Lisbon still has chilly nights but increasingly comfortable afternoons.


Temperatures

Daytime high temperatures tend to be around 18-19 C (64-66 F) early in April, warming to around 20-21 C (68-70 F) near the end of the month.

A few of the warmer afternoons, especially late in the month, can reach up near 26 C (79 F).

The record high temperature in Lisbon during April is 31.0 C (87.8 F).

Late night and early morning low temperatures tend to be near 11 C (about 52 F) early in the month, warming to about 13 C (55-56 F) near the end of the month.

A few of the colder mornings, especially early in April, can dip down near 8 C (46-47 F).

The record low temperature in Lisbon during April is 4.3 C (39.7 F).


How Much Rain in April?

April in Lisbon features about 15 mostly sunny, 4 partly sunny, and 11 mostly cloudy days.

About half the days this month report some rainfall, however, only 5-6 days record at least 1 mm (0.04 inches) or more of rain.

The number of daylight hours increases rapidly this month from about 12.6 hours on the 1st to about 13.8 hours by the 30th. 


Windspeed

The wind in Lisbon this month is mostly light to moderate at 11-24 kph (7-15 mph) but occasionally can be fresh at 31-34 kph (19-21 mph).


Ocean Temperatures

Lisbon lies along the Atlantic coast and has several stunning nearby beaches, however, ocean temperatures this month remain cold, averaging 15-16 C (59-61 F).


What to Wear in Lisbon During April?

Spring weather prevails this month in Lisbon so best to dress for chilly nights but increasingly comfortable afternoons.

A mix of clothes this month makes sense and can include jeans and long pants, both warm and some lighter-weight shirts and tops, a light-weight jacket or coat and a couple of sweaters.

Wear sensible shoes as the cobblestone streets can be slippery when wet. An umbrella will also come in handy during those wet days.


Things to Do in Lisbon in April

With the weather warming up this month, you might want to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish Lisbon walking tour to get a better sense for where all the major landmarks are located.

Freedom Day takes place on April 25th, and you can expect a lot of local businesses to be closed on this day.

That said, they typically have a lot of great public events and festivities on this day, so you'll still have plenty to see and do!

Easter will also be taking place on April 17th, so you can expect a lot of family-friendly events during that weekend.

This will also be an excellent time to see a futbol (soccer) match, as SL Benfica is going to be playing two home games this month.
