How is the Weather in Madrid During August?

August in Madrid features hot afternoons and early evenings but warm to comfortable late nights and early mornings. Humidity, however, tends to be low.


Temperatures

Daytime high temperatures during August tend to average 31-33 C (88-92F) with a couple of the warmer days reaching up around 36 C (97 F). 

The record high temperature in Madrid during August is 40.7 C (105.3 F).  

Late night and early morning lows will tend to average around 18-20 C (64-68 F) with a few of the cooler mornings dipping down near 13 C (55 F). 

The record low temperature in Madrid during August is 9.2 C (48.6 F). 


Sky and Rain

August in Madrid typically provides 24-26 mostly or at least partly sunny days with only 5-7 days being overcast. 

Rain is scarce, with only 1-2 days recording 1 mm (0.04 inches) or more rainfall.

The number of daylight hours during August decreases from 14.3 hours on the 1st to about 13.1 hours by the 31st.


Windspeed

Mostly light to gentle winds prevail this month at 6-19 kph (4-12 mph).


What to Wear in Madrid during August

Best to dress for Summer with light and airy clothing. You can bring sundresses, shorts, both long and short sleeved tops as well as jeans.

You may want to add a light sweater or windbreaker for the few cooler late nights and early mornings.

Don’t forget some comfortable walking shoes as well as some sneakers.


Things to Do in Madrid during August

The weather should be pretty warm throughout the month, so this would be an excellent time of year to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish Madrid walking tour.

If you're visiting with children, you might want to take them to one of the popular theme parks in Madrid, including locations like Parque Warner Madrid and Parque de Attraciones.

Alternatively, if you're visiting with a loved one, you might want to consider going to see a live Flamenco show after dark when it's not too hot.
