May is a transition month as Miami enters the summer rainy season.

Temperatures are very warm, and the afternoons are increasingly humid so expect 13-14 muggy days.

Daytime high temperatures tend to be around 83-85 F (about 29 C) early in May, warming to 86-88 F (30-31 C) near the end of the month.

About 4-6 of the warmer afternoons can reach or exceed 90 F (32 C).

Does It Rain Much in May?

About 17 days this month will see sunny, or at least partly sunny skies.

However, most of these days will occur during the first half of the month as cloudiness and the risk of rain increase significantly with the onset of the rainy season.

Overall, about 11 days will record rainfalls of at least 0.01 inches (0.25 mm) with about 4-6 of these recording 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) or more.

The risk for rain late near the end of May is double the risk during the first week of May.

May is the start of the rainy season, so definitely pack an umbrella as well.

Things to Do in Miami in May

There should be plenty of sun in Miami this May, making it the perfect time to take a pay-what-you-want walking tour.

Some might actually find the weather a bit too warm, and if that's the case, we recommend a cruise instead!

This is also usually a pretty good time for sporting events, as the Marlins should be entering their second full month of the season in May. Alternatively, there are also plenty of great concerts scheduled for this month.
