How is the Weather in Miami During September?

September in Miami has hot afternoons and warm nights with high humidity and frequent late day and evening showers and thunderstorms.  Late September sometimes can be slightly cooler and drier.

Daytime high temperatures will be mostly 90-91 F (32-33 C) early in the month, cooling slightly to 87-89 F (about 31 C) near the end of the month.

September is the peak of the North Atlantic hurricane season and there is a 40% chance for a named tropical cyclone passing near the east coast of Florida or the Bahamas this month.

The risk for experiencing tropical storm strength winds in Miami during the entire hurricane season is about once every 3 years, and hurricane force winds, once every 8-10 years.

The weather is hot and humid with frequent showers so dress light and airy.

Bring your beach wear including a pair of casual flip flops, sunglasses, sunscreen and a good pair of walking shoes as well as an umbrella for those showers.

Provided that there aren't any tropical cyclones happening this month, it might still be a good time to consider a pay-what-you-wish Miami walking tour. If it is a bit windy, you might want to consider an indoor activity instead.
