Boston Temperatures in November
Boston gets noticeably colder throughout November.
Early in the month, afternoon temperatures are often in the 50s°F (10–15°C), while overnight temperatures are generally in the 40s°F (4–9°C).
There can still be some mild days in early November, with temperatures occasionally reaching the 60s°F (15–20°C).
By the end of November, afternoon temperatures are more likely to be in the 40s°F (4–9°C), while overnight temperatures commonly fall into the 30s°F (around 0–4°C).
Cold snaps can bring even lower temperatures, particularly overnight. Temperatures below freezing become increasingly common as the month progresses.
So, while November doesn't necessarily feel like winter when you arrive, Boston weather in late November can definitely be wintry.
How Much Sun and Rain Does Boston Get in November?
November brings a mixture of sunny, cloudy, and rainy days to Boston.
You can expect several days with at least some sunshine, but overcast skies become increasingly common as the days get shorter.
Rain is also fairly common, so it's a good idea to pack a rain jacket or compact umbrella.

If you're visiting toward the end of November, I'd be prepared for winter-like conditions.
And don't forget comfortable shoes. Boston is one of the best cities in the United States to explore on foot, but November weather can make those walks considerably less comfortable if you're not dressed appropriately.
Is November a Good Time to Visit Boston?
November can be a very good time to visit Boston if you don't mind cooler weather.
Early November can still have some of the character of fall, while later in the month brings a more winter-like atmosphere. Crowds can also be different from the peak summer and early-fall travel season.
The trade-off is the weather. You need to be prepared for cold temperatures, rain, and potentially snow.
If you're comfortable with that, November is a great month to explore Boston's historic neighborhoods, museums, restaurants, and other attractions.

Boston has plenty to do in November, whether you get a beautiful fall day or a cold, rainy afternoon.
Take a Walking Tour of Boston
On a reasonably mild day, November can be an excellent time to explore Boston on foot.
A Boston walking tour lets you see many of the city's historic landmarks while learning about the people and events that shaped the city.
The Freedom Trail is particularly worthwhile, although you'll want to dress appropriately for the weather since much of the experience is outdoors.
Go Ice Skating
As the weather turns colder, Boston's outdoor activities begin to take on a winter feel. If you're looking for a seasonal activity, ice skating at the Boston Common Frog Pond is a popular option when it's open.
Visit Boston's Museums
If the weather isn't cooperating, November is a great time to explore Boston's museums.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, and other indoor attractions provide plenty to do on rainy or particularly cold days.
Explore Boston's Historic Neighborhoods
Don't let cooler temperatures keep you indoors all day.
Beacon Hill, the North End, Back Bay, and the Boston Common can all be enjoyable to explore when the weather is reasonably mild.
Just keep an eye on the forecast and dress accordingly.
