Early morning low temperatures tend to be in the upper 40s F (8 to 9 C) with a few of the colder mornings dipping down into the lower 40s F (5 to 6 C).

Afternoon high temperatures will average in upper 60s F (about 20 C) with a few of the warmer afternoons getting up into the upper 70s F (26 to 27 C).
The highest temperature recorded in Los Angeles during January was 95 F (35 C).

Even though this is the rainy season you can still expect about 22 days this month with clear or partly sunny skies offering ample time to see the sites of this city.

Snow is extremely rare in Los Angeles; however, the nearby mountains do receive heavy snows during the winter months.
The greatest snowfall recorded in downtown Los Angeles was 2 inches (5 cm) on January 15, 1932.

The weather is generally spring-like so a light jacket and a sweater make a lot of sense as well as an umbrella as there are a couple of rainy days possible this month.
