If you plan it well, you can travel between all of our cities and avoid winter, but then sometimes travelling to a new city in winter brings some great experiences. This post has winter travel tips to make sure you have the best things to do and some indoor activities for our more northern cities.

London

There might be some snowy weather in London this winter, but you'll be guaranteed to see a few rainy days, so use our post on What to Do in London on a Rainy Day.

Some of the best options for London in the winter are the indoor museums, many of which are free and don't require admission tickets. But for a ride on enclosed London Eye or a visit to Madame Tussaud's, look into the tourist discount passes of London to save some money on admission.

New York

Washington DC

Here are our suggestions on what to do in DC in January and February for tips, weather, and special events in the city this winter.

DC will get some snow in the winter but the good news is even if the rest of the city shuts down, you'll usually be able to find a museum or two that remains open! Follow us at @topthingstododc on Twitter for announcements!

If you're already bundled up, why not take a spin on the ice and look into the best ice skating in DC?

Most museums in DC are free and we even offer tours of some of the most popular Smithsonian Museums, but for those attractions like the Spy Museum, you can save money with a DC Tourist Pass!
