HOW COLD IS DC IN APRIL?
Spring weather fully arrives in the Nation's Capital during April as the temperatures steadily rise throughout the month.
Early in April, the morning low temperatures tend to be low to mid-40s F (5-7 C).
A few mornings dip into the mid-30s F (1-2 C) while the afternoon highs tend to be in the low 60's F (16-17 C).
As the month progresses, the morning lows warm to the low to mid-50s F (10-12 C).
Afternoon highs are most likely to reach into the low to mid-70s F (21-23 C) with a few of the warmer days reaching or exceeding 82 F (about 28C).
Past Aprils in Washington DC have seen extremes as high as 95 F (35 C) to as low as 24 F (-4.4 C).
HOW MUCH SUN, RAIN, AND SNOW?
About 16 days this month will see sunny or at least partly sunny skies over DC with some form of precipitation falling on about 10-11 days.
Significant precipitation amounts of 0.5 inches (13mm) or more, however, usually occur on only 2 or 3 days.
Snow is rare this month falling only on about 1 day every 10 years or so.
