Daytime high temperatures tend to be near 19-20 C (66-68 F) early in May, warming to 22-23 C (71-72 F) near the end of this month. 

A few of the warmer afternoons, especially later in the month, will see afternoon highs near 26C (79 F). 

The record high temperature in Barcelona during May is 32.2 C (90.0 F). 

Late night and early morning low temperatures will likely be near 11-12 C (52-54 F) early in May, warming to about 15 C (59 F) near the end of the month. 

A few of the cooler mornings early in May can dip down to near 8 C (46 F).

You can expect about 18 days this month with sunny, or at least partly sunny skies.

At the beach, ocean temperatures will warm gradually from about 16 C to 18 C (61-64 F) so swimming options will be limited to the more adventurous. 


What to Wear in Barcelona in May?

Spring attire will be best this month, however, there can be some warmer afternoons.

We recommend a light jacket or windbreaker, long-sleeved shirts, and tops, as well as some lighter attire for those few warmer afternoons.

Don’t forget some comfortable walking shoes! 


Things to Do in Barcelona in May

There will be a lot of sunny days in May, so this would probably be a good time to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Barcelona.

May will also be the month of Festival Ciutat Flamenco (Flamenco City), so there will be a lot of great opportunities to see Flamenco dancers performing at this time of year.

If you're looking for something fun to do after dark, May 15th will be the Night of the Museums, which means a lot of notable museums will be staying open late and there will also be music and dancing.
