Updated: October 5, 2023

October in Barcelona features comfortable afternoons and early evenings with generally cool late nights and mornings.

As a retired meteorologist turned tour guide, I didn't expect that I would use my experience as a forecaster in my new career in tourism.

But here I am, finding myself answering more weather questions as a blogger than I ever did as a weatherman.

So, here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the weather in Barcelona in October.

What to Wear in Barcelona in October?

October brings fall weather to Barcelona, however, early in the month the afternoons can still be warm, and shorts and sandals may still work.

Thereafter, cooler weather prevails, especially at night and during the mornings, which will require a light jacket or windbreaker, long-sleeved shirts, and tops, plus a couple of sweaters will come in handy.

Don’t forget sunglasses and some comfortable walking shoes!

Things to Do in Barcelona in October

Although there will be some rainy days this month, the chance of a lot of rain is very small.

As such, this might be a good time to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Barcelona.

October is the month of Mercat de Mercats (Market of Markets), a 3-day fair with plenty of food, wine, and desserts to try.

Entry is free, but you might want to bring some money for food.

As the name implies, this is also the month of Oktoberfest, and you can expect a great event at Universe Square of Fira Barcelona Montjuïc.
