My love of history began when on family vacations in Washington State going to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, as well as the Flavel House Museum in Astoria Oregon. A trip to New Orleans in the 4th grade solidified my love of travel. My mother continued to take me on trips to the Southern part of the United States, where I became obsessed with the region's complex history.

After college, I knew I needed to relocate to the South. I became an Americorps VISTA with the American Red Cross of Southeast Louisiana. In this position, I was given insight into the true soul of The Big Easy and its people and have an uncommon knowledge of the region for someone who is not native to New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina displaced me to Austin Texas for a bit which let me know what it feels like to miss New Orleans.

I relocated back in 2010 and shortly thereafter became a tour guide for Free Tours By Foot, and the local manager. When I'm not teaching guests about the Garden District, or answering emails, I am participating in New Orleans parade culture and going to see my favorite Live musical acts. The guides lovingly refer to me as Mama V, Vogue is my nickname.  I like when guests know it's me answering the business line texts and begin their message with "Hi Sarah!"
