Daytime high temperatures tend to average about 12 C (53-54 F) early in the month, falling to 8-10 C (46-50 F) near the end of the month.

A few of the warmer afternoons, especially early in the month, can reach up near 15 C (59 F).

The record high temperature during December in Madrid is 21 C (70 F).

Late night and early morning lows tend to be near 3-4 C (37-39 F), cooling to 1-2 C (34-36 F) near the end of the month.

On a few of the colder mornings, especially late in the month, can dip down near -5 C (23 F).

The record low temperature in Madrid during December is -9.2 C (15.4 F).

Some precipitation normally falls on about 7 days, with 1 day recording some snow.

Accumulating snow, however, is relatively rare and most likely to occur in late December and January.

You can expect about 9.5 hours of daylight on the 1st, decreasing to a minimum of about 9.3 hours on the 21st.


Windspeed

Mostly light to gentle winds prevail this month at 6-19 kph (4-12 mph) but can occasionally be moderate at 20-28 kph (13-18 mph).


What to Wear in Madrid in December?

You will need warm winter clothes in December. You should pack a warm jacket or coat, some scarves, as well as a hat & gloves. 

Don’t forget some warm, comfortable walking shoes or boots. While snow is rare, it might make sense to bring slip-resistant shoes.

It might also make sense to consider bringing a sweater along for cold days that aren't too rainy.
