Welcome to Atlantis Tour Guides (the audio tour division of Tours by Foot). We are excited you chose to take our Greenwich Self Guided Audio Tour.

INSTRUCTIONS:
This is a self guided tour that you can take at any time. It is not date specific and you can listen to it as many times as you'd like.
Find the audio stops listed below. You can listen out of order if you chose but the verbal instructions to get between stops will follow our suggested map route.
Each stop has a Google Map link to ensure you can easily fine the next stop, but you can also use this embeddable Google Map.
You can also use the .pdf file of the written tour script with clickable links for ease of download.
You can use this map by clicking on the square in the upper right corner. It will then open your Google Maps app (you must have this app for the map to work) with the stops shown. You cannot download the self guided tour map, but if you'd like to use this map without data, be sure to leave this page open!

TOUR DETAILS
- Time: 1 Hour
- Start: Greenwich Foot Tunnel
- Finish: The Royal Observatory
Some of the people who live in Greenwich like to use the full name of their home borough – The Royal Borough of Greenwich – it is a special title because there are only four Royal Boroughs in the UK. We’ll find out why Greenwich was granted this honour later on in the tour. Greenwich has had associations with sea for centuries, and the Navy as its’ roots here, which means we’ll be learning quite a bit about the country’s naval past.
However, the main reason Greenwich is famous all over the world is because the Prime Meridian - the line that divides the globe into eastern and western hemisphere - was established here. At the top of the hill in Greenwich Park we will see the Royal Observatory, the demarkation of the prime meridian, and you’ll have a chance to have your photo taken with one foot in the east and another in west. As they say in Greenwich – that’s where time began. It may sound a bit over the top, but as you will soon find out, there is some truth to it.
