LUGGAGE STORAGE (THE SHARING ECONOMY)

Vertoe and the companies listed below employ a similar system to Airbnb, but for luggage.

They find convenient locations for travelers; local businesses such as souvenirs and gift shops, hotels, convenience stores, and even restaurants, and coffee houses, which have the storage space and the security to hold and secure your luggage.

Most of these services offer luggage storage locations within a few blocks of major attractions, including the following examples:

  • Faneuil Hall Marketplace
  • New England Aquarium
  • Harvard University
  • Boston Common
  • Freedom Trail
  • Fenway Park
  • TD Garden
  • And more!

If you're trying to find out whether or not one of these services offers a luggage storage facility where you need it, make sure to check their own up-to-date maps.

Vertoe

Vertoe is America’s largest on-demand short-term storage provider with a presence in over 20 major cities with 300+ locations in the US.

They have over 40 locations in Boston alone and they are adding locations very rapidly.

Many of their locations are open 24/7.

Where to Store Luggage in Boston

Vertoe’s rates are among the cheapest in Boston. Bags cost $5.95/day (online price). See their pricing page for more information.

They offer a very generous $5000 in insurance and provide complimentary tamper-proof security seals at their locations.

They have locations covering all major transit spots: Logan Airport and South Station to name a few.

You can book in advance and cancel anytime for a full refund anytime. Click here to find Vertoe locations.

We also like how Vertoe users get to rate and review each of their locations, reviews that you could read before checking your bags.

They offer 24/7 customer support.

Additional Companies

There are several other companies offering a similar service. Some have a few side benefits that are worth noting below.

Some might offer more convenient locations for you than Vertoe.

Nannybag

One aspect that sets Nanny Bag apart is that there is no fee for canceling as long as your reservation time has not started.

Stasher

Stasher

Like Nannybag, Stasher offers worldwide luggage storage. They have locations in Boston and may prove to be the most convenient for you.

Their standout claim is that most of their locations are open 24 hours a day.

This company calls the different locations where you can keep your luggage ‘Angels’.

SOUTH STATION LUGGAGE STORAGE OPTIONS

There is no storage at the airport but at the bus and Boston's train station, South Station, you have three options:

Amtrak

If you are taking a train with Amtrak and have a ticket, you can use their Parcel Check service for $10 per item for 24 hours.

Boston South Station Luggage Storage

Even if you don't have an Amtrak ticket, you may store items for $20 per item for 24 hours. Valid photo ID required).

They recommend that you check the station detail page to see if they offer this service.

Please keep in mind that just like at Boston Logan Airport, there are no storage lockers at this location. That said, they do have a luggage storage area.

Greyhound Package Express

You can store your luggage with them for $10 per bag for up to 24 hours, within their hours of operation. You can book this location through Vertoe.

Vertoe also has a location next to the station for just $2/hour and $6/day.

Package Express is open 7 days a week (Monday - Friday from 7 am to 8 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm. Holiday hours will vary.

Call 617-526-1842 to confirm hours. Note: They only accept cash; there's an ATM machine in the 1st-floor waiting area.

Teddy Ballgames

This private business, located at the top of the escalator in the main lobby, will store your bags for a day, overnight, and multiple days.

Their hours are Monday-Friday, 7 am - 6 pm; Saturday-Sunday, 9 am - 4 pm. Be sure to call 617-330-1230 to confirm rates and hours.

BOSTON'S LOGAN AIRPORT LUGGAGE STORAGE OPTIONS

Unfortunately, there are no luggage lockers or facilities available at Boston Logan International Airport. That said, there are two options that you might want to consider.

The first is a luggage-sharing option, such as Vertoe.

You can choose a location near a Boston T stop so that it's easy to gather your luggage on the way to the airport. This will require a bit of planning.

Rowes Wharf Water Taxi

This is one of the best ways to reach downtown Boston from Logan Airport, and they actually offer their passengers free luggage storage at their office.

While there are several water taxis in the area, the Rowes Wharf location is the only place where you can store your items.

They offer a special airport package for only $28 which includes pickup, storage, and return.

This is only a short-term option, as they will only hold onto your items for a short time.

It's also worth noting that they probably won't have a lot of room to store things, so this service might be limited to smaller baggage.

Other Options

If you're not interested in the storage-sharing opportunities listed above, there is one place where you might be able to store luggage and other items.

Some of the nicer hotels in Boston might be willing to hold onto your belongings for a short time if you ask nicely and tip well.

This isn't exactly the safest option out there (no insurance), and there are no guarantees that it will work out for you, but it could be a viable alternative for some visitors.
