Afternoon high temperatures tend to average around 28 C (83 F) early in the month but cool to 25 C (77 F) near the end of the month. 

A few of the warmer afternoons, especially early in September, can reach up near 34 C (93 F).

The record high temperature in Madrid during September is 38.9 °C (102 F).

Late-night and early-morning lows will tend to average about 16 C (61 F) early in the month falling to around 12 C (54 F) near the end of the month. 

A few of the cooler mornings, especially near the end of the month, can dip down around 7 C (45 F). 

The record low temperature for Madrid during September is 4.0 C (39.2 F).

During September, you can expect about 18-22 days of sunny or at least partly sunny skies.

It is more likely to have a sunny day early in the month than near the end of the month.

What to Wear in Madrid in September?

Best to bring a mix of summer and fall attire this month.

You can bring sundresses, shorts, both long and short-sleeved tops as well as jeans but also pack a sweater plus a windbreaker or lightweight jacket for the few cooler evenings and chilly early morning hours, near the end of the month.

Don’t forget some comfortable walking shoes as well as some sneakers.


Things to Do in Madrid in September

The weather will still be pretty nice in September, so you might want to consider taking a pay-what-you-wish Madrid walking tour.

You can also expect to see a few notable concerts this month, including Björk, Echo and the Bunnymen, and 5 Seconds of Summer.
