The Newcastle Ouseburn Brewery Tour

Updated: September 24, 2022
 By Margaret

Free Tours By Foot is proud to present Newcastle's first pay-what-you-like brewery tour!

The Ouseburn has a cluster of great independent breweries and the area is has developed a national reputation (some would claim an international reputation!). Come along with us to explore small, one man micro breweries to larger operations with state of the art equipment. You'll see where the beer is made, meet the people who make it, and learn about the fascinating beer culture of the Ouseburn area. Your tour will be led by a local expert who will be ready to share fascinating facts as well as answer any questions you might have. Expect delicious samples, lively discussion, and an enjoyable stroll.

During the tour you'll have the opportunity to drink a wide range of beers from both traditional and contemporary beer styles from five different breweries. The tour features stops at: Brinkburn St., Full Circle, Northern Alchemy, Out There and Tyne Bank.

The tour is led by Martin Ellis who lives, works and drinks in the Ouseburn. He first drank in the Ouseburn in the early 1980s. He is an active CAMRA member, spent nearly 30 years on a national committee, has organised the Newcastle Beer Festival and writes about beer for national and local publications.

Please note: it may not be possible to visit every brewery, people need to be ‘dressed for the weather' and wear shoes appropriate for walking. You will need to pay for your own beer.
