Daytime high temperatures tend to be around 15-16 C (near 60 F) early in December falling to around 13-14 C (mid-50s F) by New Year’s Eve.
A few of the warmer afternoons early in the month can reach up to around 18 C (mid-60s F).
The record high temperature in Barcelona during December is 22 C (73 F).
Late night and early morning low temperatures will generally range from about 7 C (mid-40s F) early in December falling to near 5 C (low 40s F) by the end of the month.
A few of the colder mornings, especially near the end of the month, can dip down to near 1 C (mid-30s F).
The record low temperature in Barcelona during December is -2C/28F.
Clouds and Rain
Barcelona in December is generally sunny with about 18-19 days with either clear or at least partly sunny skies.
Rain occurs on about 5-6 days this month but amounts tend to be light.
Snow normally does not fall in Barcelona, however, it can occur on rare occasions in the inland hilly areas around the city.
Wind
The wind in Barcelona tends to be mostly light during December, averaging 4-12 mph/6-29 kph but occasionally can be moderate at 13-18 mph/20-28 kph.
Daylight
December has the least amount of daylight, however, there will still be about 9.25 hours daily this month.
Ocean
December is not the best time to be at the beach as the average water temperatures will be falling from about 16 C to 14 C ( 61°F to 57°F).
What to Wear in Barcelona in December?
December is cold so bring along some clothes suited for late Autumn and for early Winter.
We recommend long-sleeved shirts and tops, as well as a couple of sweaters plus a warm coat or jacket.
Add a scarf or two and don’t forget some comfortable walking shoes.
Things to Do in Barcelona in December
If you're willing to brave the colder weather, it's never a bad time to take a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Barcelona.
You may also want to consider attending a football match, as FC Barcelona will typically have at least a few games this month.
One great way to keep warm and indoors is to see a live Flamenco show. There are also usually at least a few great concerts to see in December.
