HOW COLD IS AMSTERDAM IN FEBRUARY?
February in Amsterdam is often cloudy, damp and cold but still can offer a number of sunny days to explore this historic city.
Daily high temperatures range from 5-6 C (low 40s F) early in the month warming to 6-7 C (the mid-40s F) near the end of the month.
A few days near the end of the month can, at times, warm up to 11-12 C (the low to mid 50s F).

The record high temperature for Amsterdam during February is 16 C (61 F).
Late night and early morning low temperatures during February generally fall to -1 C to 1 C (the low to mid 30s F).
A few colder mornings can dip down to -5 C (the low to mid 20s F), especially early in the month and on average, about 13 days will dip down to freezing 0C (32F) or less.
The record coldest temperature for Amsterdam during February is -14 C (6F).
HOW MUCH SUN OR RAIN?
About 17-18 days will be mostly cloudy, however, there will still be about 10-11 days with sunny or at least partly sunny skies to explore the city.
Precipitation normally falls on 11-15 days, however, only 7-8 of these days record at least 1 mm (0.04 inches) or more.

Some snow or ice can be expected on about 4 days.
However, accumulating snow or ice only occurs on 2-3 days each winter and heavy snowfalls are rare.
You can expect about 9 hours of daylight early in the month increasing to about 10.8 hours by 28th.
During February the wind in Amsterdam tends to be gentle to moderate, averaging 3-30 kph (8-18 mph).
But, it occasionally can freshen up to 31-39 kph (19-24 mph) with higher gusts.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Amsterdam is cold, damp and breezy in February so do bring warm layered clothes along with a waterproof warm coat or jacket.
Gloves, a scarf and hat will also be handy in the windy conditions.

You may also wish to bring along an umbrella, a sweater or two, warm socks, some boots and perhaps some thermal underwear.
