You can look forward to mostly dry and sunny weather with cool afternoons and cold nights.
As a retired meteorologist turned tour guide, I didn't expect that I would use my experience as a forecaster in my new career in tourism.
But here I am, finding myself answering more weather questions as a blogger than I ever did as a weatherman.
So, here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the weather in Las Vegas in December.

How Hot Is Las Vegas in December?
Daytime high temperatures early in December tend to be near 60F (15-16C).
But they will fall to the mid to upper 50s F (13-14 C) later in the month, so brisk weather for Christmas in Las Vegas.
A few of the warmer afternoons, especially early in the month, can reach up into the upper 60s F (20-21 C).
The record high temperature in Las Vegas during December is 77 F (25 C).
Late night and early morning low temperatures will generally be in the low 40s F (4-5 C) early in the month falling to the mid to upper 30s F (2-3 C) near the end of the month.
A few of the colder mornings, however, can dip down into the upper 20s F to near 30 F (-2 to -1 C), especially near the end of the month.
You can expect 8 days with late night or early morning lows dipping to 32F/0C or less. The record low temperature in Las Vegas during December is 11 F (-11.7C).
Clouds and Rain
Skies tend to be clear, or at least partly sunny, on about 22 days this month.
Some precipitation can be expected on about 3 days, however, significant rainfalls of at least 0.5 inches (13 mm) occur only once every 3-4 years.
Snow can fall in Las Vegas during December, however, snow only occurs about once every 5 years with snowfalls of 3 inches or more, only once every 10 years.
Daylight and Windspeed
About 9.9 hours of daylight occurs on December 1st with the shortest day being December 20th with 9.7 hours of daylight.
During December the wind in Las Vegas tends to be light to gentle at 4-12 mph/6-19 kph but briefly can be moderate 13-18 mph / 20-28 kph.
What to Wear in Las Vegas in December
Late Autumn attire will do well here in December but dress in layers as the temperature can change quite a bit from the early morning to midafternoon.
In addition, a warm coat is a must for those colder nights and early mornings as well as warm footwear, a couple of sweaters plus a scarf and gloves for the coldest nights.
With lots of sun don’t forget a pair of sunglasses and a good pair of walking shoes.
What to Do in Las Vegas in December
Although temperatures are quite cool this month, there's still plenty of sun to enjoy and not too much rain, which would make this a good time for a free walking tour in Las Vegas.
With the holidays just around the corner, you might want to go ice skating at the Cosmopolitan or see a show at the LINQ Promenade.
If you're a sports fan, both the Raiders and the Golden Knights will be performing at home this month.
As usual, there will also be plenty of great concerts to see.
