The Weather in Berlin in August

August in Berlin is an excellent time to explore this great city as the weather is relatively dry and temperatures are quite pleasant.  


Berlin Average Temperatures in August

Afternoon high temperatures tend to be near 25-26 C (77-79 F) early in the month, falling to 22-23 C (72-74 F) by the end of the month.

A few of the warmer days, especially early in the month, can reach up near 31 C (88 F). 

The record high temperature in Berlin during August is 37.7 C (99.9 F).

Late night and early morning lows tend to be near 15-16 C (59-61 F) early in August but fall to about 13 C (55-56 F) near the end of this month.

A few of the cooler mornings, especially later in the month can dip down near 9 C (48-49 F). 

The record low temperature for Berlin during August is 3.5 °C (38.3 F).


Sun and Rain

You can expect about 12 sunny, 5 partly sunny, and 14 cloudy days this month.

About 12-13 days will record some rainfall, however, rainfalls of at least 1 mm (0.04 inches) or more only occur on about 7-8 days.


Daylight

The amount of daylight in August decreases from about 15.5 hours at the beginning of the month to 13.7 hours by the end of the month.


Windspeed

The wind tends to be light to gentle this month, mostly 6-19 kph (4-12 mph), but occasionally will be moderate at 20-28 kph (13-18 mph).

What to Wear in Berlin in August

The weather is mild but can be chilly at times.

A mix of summer and fall attire works best including a sweater or two and at least one lightweight jacket for the chilly evenings and mornings.  

Don’t forget a couple of pairs of good walking shoes and at least one umbrella.


Things to Do in Berlin in August

Although there will probably be plenty of cloudy days this month, it's not likely that there will be a lot of rain, so you might want to consider going on a pay-what-you-wish walking tour in Berlin.

Another fun activity is the Long Night of Museums on August 27th, as more than 80 museums will be keeping their doors open extra late and even hosting some performances/concerts.

This is also the month of the Tanz Im August Festival, which celebrates a wide variety of performing arts including music, break dancing, interpretive dance, and more.
