This post provides several options for luggage storage in and around Penn Station in NYC.
We include many places that offer secure lockers and storage rooms as well as an option that will pick up and deliver your luggage to you.
Let's "unpack" your options!
ARE THERE LOCKERS AT PENN STATION?
Due to increased security following the Sept 11th attacks, there are no longer storage lockers at Penn Station nor is there a live luggage attendant.
Apparently, the only option available for baggage inside of Penn Station is for those with Amtrak tickets.
At $10/piece, the service isn't cheap, but it's not too much to pass up the service.
Non-ticket holders can use Amtrak storage but only when space is available and for $20/piece. There are better options and we list them in the next section.

LUGGAGE STORAGE SHARING
In the past few years, a new type of luggage service has arisen and quickly dominated the luggage storage market. It's the sharing economy.
Like Airbnb, the companies in this space find convenient locations for travelers, such as souvenir and gift shops, convenience stores, and even hotels
They work with places that open early and close late and can hold and secure your luggage, all for $5.95/piece for 24 hours with insurance up to $5000.

Companies such as Vertoe operate both a website and an app.
In the image above, you can see Penn Station in the red rectangle with the closest participating locations denoted by luggage icons.
While storing your luggage with Amtrak is the quickest and most convenient option, the Vertoe option is definitely the most cost-effective.
This is one of the other big companies offering a luggage storage service via the Airbnb method.
Their prices start at just $4.75/piece per day, which is quite affordable.
There are over 380 Bounce storage locations in NYC, so you probably won't have to travel very far before finding a place where you can drop off your baggage.
In addition to this option, they also offer an extra 5% off when you use the promo code FREETOURSBYFOOT.
Alternatively, you can also use the New York Sightseeing Pass to save an extra 10% off on this service.
This is another popular company that offers luggage storage services in the area of Penn Station. Their rates begin at around $6/piece per day.
Although that might be a bit more expensive than their competitors, if you're planning to get a New York Sightseeing Pass, you'll be able to save an additional 20% off.

While Vertoe operates like Airbnb, My Bag Check operates like Uber.
Rather than you stopping in at a participating location, a car will come and pick up your luggage, store it, and then deliver it to your desired destination, including train stations like Penn Station.
