What is the Weather like in Paris during March?

HOW COLD IS PARIS IN MARCH?

Paris in March tends to be cold and cloudy with a number of partly sunny or sunny days. 

Afternoon high temperatures generally range from the upper 9-10C (40s F) early in March.

It warms up to 12-13 C (the mid-50s F) towards the end of the month.

A few of the warmer afternoons will likely reach the mid to upper 19-20C (60s F) especially towards the end of the month.

The record high temperature in Paris during March is 24C (75F).

Late night and early morning low temperatures tend to be around 2-3C (the mid to upper 30s F) early in the month, warming to 4-5 C (the low 40s F) near the end of the month. 

A few of the colder mornings, especially early in March can dip down into -2C to -3C (the upper 20s F) . 

The record low temperature recorded in Paris during March was -6 C (21 F)


HOW MUCH SUN OR RAIN?

Paris normally will be cloudy or mostly cloudy on about 18-19 days during March but with 12-13 days offering sunny or at least partly sunny conditions.

A sunny day is more likely near the end of the month than at the beginning.

About 10-14 days will record some precipitation, however, only 7-8 days will record at least 1 mm (0.04 inches) of rain.

Accumulating snow or ice is rare, however, 1-2 days could have some occurrence of snow or ice.

Daylight hours increase during this month from about 11 hours on the 1st to just under 13 hours by the 31st. 

The wind during March generally is light to moderate, averaging mostly between 6 mph and 15 mph but occasionally reaching 27-29 kph (17-18 mph) with higher gusts.


WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

March is a transitional month between winter and spring with some days requiring winter clothes including a heavier coat with a scarf and gloves.

But many days, especially near the end of the month will only require a light-weight jacket or windbreaker.
