One of the trendiest spots in Dubai is the area encompassing the Jumeirah Beach Residences and the Dubai Marina. These areas border the waterfront, providing beautiful sea views to anyone visiting. Here, you’ll find beautiful promenades where you can take relaxing strolls and trendy boutiques where you can scout for sales. Furthermore their are amazing eateries where you can try food from all over the world. Below, we have put together a tour suggesting the sites to visit and activities to try out when exploring this area.
The Walk at JBR
The Walk at JBR is a beautiful promenade by the Jumeirah Beach Residences. It combines a social atmosphere with a relaxed vibe, making it a great spot for tourists looking to unwind. The boulevard boasts a range of stylish boutiques and trendy restaurants to suit every taste, from the traditional to the more eclectic. And if you’re a fan of luxury cars, you should definitely check this spot out.You will see an impressive collection of sports cars as you meander about.
Some of our favorite restaurants here are:
Operation Falafel: This joint is reasonably priced compared to most of the restaurants in this locale. It’s known for its delicious, crisp falafels and yummy shawarma sandwiches. The portions are big and the staff is quite friendly – you’ll definitely enjoy your meal here
Pulp Juice Bar: If you want something healthy that you can sip while walking, this is the place for you. The juices are as fresh as can be and absolutely burst with flavor. We’re particularly fond of the Mango Mania, which is thick, creamy and delicious
WOFL: This place will challenge your notions of what a waffle can be. You can choose from six savory waffles and six sweet waffles. Our favorite flavors include the WOFL’NA (made with butternut squash and labneh zatar cheese) and The Traditional (with sweet brown cheese and strawberry jam). If waffles for a meal and for dessert are a bit too much for you, you can still enjoy something sweet with one of their homemade shakes – the Coffee Date flavor is guaranteed to perk you up!
Scoozi: Interestingly, this place serves two types of cuisine – Japanese and Italian. It’s a great option for anyone looking to mix things up and the variety means that this restaurant will satisfy the pickiest of eaters.
Dubai has a gorgeous collection of sunny beaches. The JBR beach is one of the most family-friendly ones out there, with calm water and white sands. If you want to try some fun water sports, JBR Beach has opportunities for wake boarding and banana boating. And if you’d rather stay on dry land (or in this case, sand), you’ll find brightly dressed camels dotting the beach. For a small fee, you can ride upon them and pretend to be an adventurer in Arabian Nights
We might be jumping the gun a little bit here – Ain Dubai is not yet open to the public. Yet, we couldn’t resist adding this attraction to our list. Ain Dubai is a giant observation wheel that is being built on Bluewaters Island, right off the JBR coastline. Upon completion, the wheel will be one of the largest and highest in the world and will offer 360-degree views of Dubai. It’s definitely set to be a must-see stop for anyone taking a tour of JBR.
From JBR, you can easily make your way to the Dubai Marina via the Dubai Tram. Dubai’s public transport options tend to follow a futuristic aesthetic, so you will sit inside a shiny chrome conveyor and enjoy the view from the comfort of your air-conditioned seat.
You’ll then get off at Dubai Marina, Dubai’s own little canal city. This waterfront area combines a contemporary aesthetic with a Riviera vibe. You can wander down the Dubai Marina Walk to just take in the atmosphere (stopping for refreshments and retail therapy whenever needed).
Princess Tower and Canyan Tower
Towards the western part of the Dubai Marina, you will find a cluster of staggering skyscraper, many of which have individual claims to fame. One of them is Princess Tower, the second tallest building in Dubai. Up until 2015, it was the tallest residential building in the world and it currently ranks among the top 25 tallest buildings worldwide.
Another building of interest is the Canyan Tower, known colloquially as the Twisting Tower. The building ‘twists’ at a 90 degree angle, making it a unique addition to the Dubai skyline. The entire area is well worth a wander, especially if you have any interest in architecture.
The Palm DropZone location of Skydive Dubai is close to the Dubai Marina area. Skydiving in Dubai is an exhilarating experience – you’ll be able to fully see the carefully shaped Palm Islands against the beautiful blue ocean. The experience is open to beginner skydivers as well, with the option of doing a tandem Sky Dive. However, if you want to do a skydive, you’ll need to do some advance planning. The hours of opening vary at different times of the year and you will need to pre-book. However, if you can work it into your schedule. It’s one of the most thrilling activities you can try in Dubai.
Marina Dhow Cruise
To end your tour, we recommend taking a relaxing dinner cruise along the Dubai Marina. With the buildings lit up at night and the calm waters to gently buffet you along, it truly is a lovely sight. The buffet spread is absolutely sumptuous - fresh salads, mouthwatering meats and heavenly desserts, all hailing from different corners of the globe. What is more, you’ll get to witness a Live Arabic Tanoura Dance Show.
