Madame Tussauds is one of the most popular attractions in London, and there are a lot of different ways to save money on tickets.
This post explains how to use the 2-for-1 deal from National Rail.
How to Get the 2 For 1 Deal
National Rail has a very popular 2-for-1 program that offers discounts on tickets for some of the most popular attractions and activities in London, and Madame Tussauds is included in this discount.
All you have to do is purchase two National Rail tickets to Madame Tussauds and use the train to reach your destination, and you’ll be eligible for the deal.
We’ll go even further into detail below. Just follow these steps and you’ll get 2 tickets for the price of 1!
1. Get a Valid National Rail Ticket
You’ll need to purchase one of the following specific ticket types in order to get Madame Tussauds tickets 2 for 1:
- Season tickets
- Gatwick/Stanstead Express
- Travelcards (only at National Rail station)
- Printed/Mobile tickets with the National Rail logo
- National Rail issued smartcards
- Annual Gold Cards
- Gold Record Card
2. Get Your Tickets at a National Rail Station
If you’re going to take advantage of the Madame Tussauds 2-for-1 deal, it will be necessary to purchase your train tickets from an official National Rail station.
Tickets purchased on the London Underground are not eligible.
3. National Rail Tickets Must Be Used to Travel to Madame Tussauds
In order to get the 2-for-1 Madame Tussauds deal, the National Rail tickets you purchase must be used to travel to the attraction.
When you provide your voucher and train tickets, they will have to show that the arrival station was nearby. The closest train station is Marylebone.
4. Keep Your Train Tickets
Don’t just throw away your tickets after using them, because you will need them to prove that you used the National Rail to reach Madame Tussauds.
Should a National Rail employee ask for your ticket, make sure to tell them that you’re planning to use the tickets for the 2-for-1 discount and show them the voucher as well?
5. Print Your Madame Tussauds 2 For 1 Voucher
Use the Days Out Guide website to print out the 2-for-1 voucher for Madame Tussauds. You will need the voucher in order to get the deal.
Vouchers can be downloaded and printed out a few days in advance and do not need to be validated on the same day.
6. National Rail Tickets Must Be Purchased on the Same Day
You’ll need to get your National Rail tickets on the same day that you purchase Madame Tussauds tickets in order to be eligible for the 2-for-1 deal.
Weekly railcards can be used on any of the 7 days on which it is valid.
7. Some Attractions Will Have Blackout Dates
During busier times of the year, some major attractions such as Madame Tussauds will have blackout dates for the 2-for-1 discount.
On these dates, you won’t be able to take advantage of this deal.
As long as you’re planning to visit during the off-season, you should have nothing to worry about.
8. You Cannot Get Skip-The-Line Tickets
Due to the fact that you have to get your tickets on the day that you travel using National Rail, you’ll have to get in line for admission to Madame Tussauds and present both your voucher and tickets in order to get the 2-for-1 deal.
Since you won’t be able to skip the ticket line, it will be impossible to get “skip-the-line” tickets.
9. Oyster Cards Aren’t Eligible
If you want to take advantage of the Madame Tussauds 2-for-1 deal, you won’t be able to use an Oyster Card.
It will be necessary to purchase one of the other accepted ticket forms.
Things to Consider
Although this might seem like a lot of steps to follow, it’s actually pretty simple once you get the idea of how it works. Basically, you need 2 things:
- A Madame Tussauds 2 for 1 Voucher
- A National Rail Ticket to Madame Tussauds
The train tickets must be purchased on the same day that you plan to visit the attraction, they must be used to reach the attraction, and only certain ticket types are valid.
Present your voucher and train tickets at the Madame Tussauds ticket office to get the deal.
The entire process really only takes about 10-15 minutes, so it’s definitely worth the effort.
